Rauriser Urwald

Der Weg durch den „Rauriser Urwald“ am Fuße des Sonnblicks führt von Kolm Saigurn in rund einer Stunde durch den naturbelassenen Wald und endet an der GainschniggAlm. Auf dem Weg entdeckt man bis zu 100 Jahre alte Ameisenhügel und Spitzfi chten, die extrakurze Äste ausgebildet haben, um den Schneemengen standzuhalten. Von Juli bis September geführte Touren mit Nationalpark-Ranger.

Rauris Virgin Forest

The path through the “Rauris Virgin Forest” at the foot of the Sonnblick leads from Kolm Saigurn through untouched forests on a walk that takes roughly one hour and ends at the Gainschnigg Alm. Along the way you will discover anthills as much as 100 years old and narrow-crowned spruce that have formed extra-short branches in order to endure heavy accumulations of snow. From July until September, guided tours with National Park Rangers.

Wiegenwald der Zirben

Im hinteren Stubachtal von Uttendorf/Weißsee liegt der „Wiegenwald der Zirben“. Auf einer Seehöhe von 1.400 bis 1.800 Metern wachsen hier bis zu tausend Jahre alte Zirben, die Wege durch das Wald- und Moorgebiet sind nicht markiert. Um den empfi ndlichen Naturraum nicht zu stören, sollte man sich nur in Begleitung eines NationalparkRangers zu einer Wanderung dorthin aufmachen. Geführte Touren werden von Juli bis September angeboten.

Stone Pine Forest

In Upper Stubachtal near Uttendorf/Weißsee, you will discover the “Cradle Pine Forest”. Growing here at elevations from 1400 to 1800 m above sea level are stone pine as much as 1000 years old. The paths through this area of forest and moors are not marked. So as not to disturb this sensitive natural habitat, you should only hike here if accompanied by a National Park Ranger. Guided tours are offered from July to September.
