The site is linked with three streets, including Brick Lane, and this canections can be expanded if removing the wall sitted on west side. Imagining the mental flows without this wall, we will get the map above.

Spitalfields

London

With the aim keep the pedestrian flow and their sensations of a open space, the model was divided from the lines created from the mental flows.

Spitalfields is a odd area in London, characterized by the street art on the steet walls and by the street commerce, strongest on sundays. This event attracts lot of people, Londoners and tourists. Brick Lane Street specifically is where happens this commerce and also works like an axis, dividing a financial centre to a residential area. The difference between the both areas are not just by the use, but also the kind of buildings and their heights.

One of the strongest characteristics of Brick Lane area is the street art. For this reason, would be implemented a art musuem linked with street art and street artistis and their production.

existing there are the bangladeshi and indian descendants.

The design was inspired by the Indian and Bangladeshi culture, as a reflect of the local culture. Spitalfields is caractherized as a immigrant area, Focusing on dance, specifically on movements, the shapes of the building was designed. and the most commom ethnicities

The area where the site is, is closer to a residential area where the heights are lower. For this reason the building should follow this scale to keep the similarity. Moreover, one lack of the area is the vegetation, that can be created respecting the climate of the region, choosing right species of vegetation. empty aerea commerce area sunday events nts

Inspiration

Implementation of food boxes, based on “food trucks to keep the food commerce existing in the area, specifically on sundays.

With the objective of atract people, a yellow flooring layout was implemented from the tangential streets until the public space of the art musuem. The yellow color was chosen, to be a contrast with the bown/orange color from bricks and with black and gray colors, from the asphalt and from the building. This flooring layout also generates a sense of direction, enhancing the attraction to space.

Tower folli - Art Gallery A ground floor mostly closed, probably would not encourage the flows under the building. Because of this reason, the ground floor was changed and just two blocks will keep closed, creating a bigger space really joining the building with the square. This use can be seen in the section in the next page, such as on the right drawings. The drawings on the model shows how many flow would happen if it keep closed (first image) and how it will work if opened (second image). Reducing the basis supporting area, the structure will be prejudiced. For this reason, all walls will done as trusses waht will made them almost self-supporting, needing just few pillars, as can be seen in the right sketch.

The main focus of the project is the interaction of public and private areas an objective that can be difficult to achieve. To improve the interaction of this areas a semi-private area was created to link them and to be a mixed area. The coffee shop is sitted outside of the building, what facilitates the access from the general public but also works for the art gallery visitors.

Here, the images aims to show the evolution of the facades definition, starting from the indian dance untill the final form, that are also applied at the images cited before.

To understand how the floor paths works, the images below show the way of the pedestrian walking through them, and how they conect the street with the square and the building, and also how the direction works.
