A seemingly throw-away line in Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians - “the father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name” – reminds us of the significance we need to place on the family context as we minister the gospel to children and their families.
Other speakers include: Rev Graham Stanton – Principal, Youthworks College Andy Stirrup – Academic Dean, Youthworks College
The biennial Youthworks College Theology of Children’s Ministry Conference is a time to gather with other children’s ministry practitioners, thinkers and experts to reflect theologically on our approach to this ministry as we endeavour to pursue best practice.
Michael Hyam – Catechist, Youthworks College
Over two days of fellowship, conversation and discovery, participants will be inspired and challenged by the theological significance of bringing a family paradigm to the practice of children’s ministry.
Tony Jones – Youthworks Children’s Ministry Advisor
Forming the basis of this year’s conference discussion will be five papers presented by expert guest speakers and College faculty which will each be followed by a responder, table discussion and Q&A sessions. Papers will be distributed to participants before the conference to ensure everyone is prepared for the discussion.
Emily Heath – Kidzlink Children’s Ministry Advisor
Stuart Tye – Chaplain, The King’s School
Special Guest Speaker Dr Timothy Paul Jones, Ph.D.
Timothy Paul Jones has authored, co-authored, or edited more than a dozen books, including Conspiracies and the Cross, Misquoting Truth, Christian History Made Easy, and the CBA bestseller The Da Vinci Codebreaker. After 14 years in vocational ministry, Timothy now serves as Associate Professor of Leadership and Church Ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and as editor of The Journal for Family Ministry. Timothy, his wife Rayann, and their daughter Hannah reside in the city of St. Matthews in Louisville, Kentucky, with a Siberian Husky and two cats.
