WORKSHOPS WORKSHOP 1: New Wolsey Theatre: Games and Exercises for Every Classroom

Join us to discover how you can bring creativity into your classroom! Take part in a practical workshop which will include plenty of activities to motivate and challenge your students while developing core interpersonal skills, confidence and team work. We will demonstrate activities that were delivered as part of a recent literacy project for children in KS2, as well as activities that contribute towards the creative delivery of the SMSC. The New Wolsey Theatre is based in Ipswich. Our mission is to create, develop and produce a vital and dynamic programme of theatre and other live performances and projects, for all the people of Suffolk and surrounding areas. Our Creative Learning offer for schools has a range of opportunities for teachers and students alike to enhance their skills. Our workshops not only develop creativity and theatre making skills but can also have a significant impact on confidence, aspiration, soft skills and employability. wolseytheatre.co.uk BLUE ROOM

Wysing Arts Centre: Artists and Technologies

Artists are increasingly using digital technologies to make their work. In this session, led Wysing Studio Artist Laura Hindmarsh, you will see demonstrations of her work, get the opportunity to test out technologies and discuss ideas of how these can be used to inspired future projects and cross-disciplinary opportunities. The workshop will explore hi and low-fi technologies including stereoscopes, cardboard camera, GIFs, 360 video and photogrammetry. The workshop links to Wysing Arts Centre’s latest exhibition ‘Warm Worlds and Otherwise’ which features innovative Virtual Reality work created by Anna Bunting-Branch. From cuttingedge experiments in VR, to the once-revolutionary technology of the paperback book, the workshop will explore ways different ways to use technologies to inspire students at school. The workshop is intended for secondary teachers, although primary and SEN teachers may also benefit. Wysing’s rural site near Cambridge includes a gallery, education studio, artists’ studios, project spaces, a 17th century farmhouse and outdoor sculptures. The centre provides a range of programmes for artistic research, experimentation, discovery and production. We work with visual artists, musicians, dancers, choreographers and writers, and those working in other disciplines that have a strong connection to the visual arts. wysingartscentre.org YELLOW ROOM

WORKSHOP 2: Crafts Council: Our Future in the Making

The urge to make is human. Making is constructive, positive and fulfilling. It enables us to think, learn and create. It encourages us to appreciate beauty, ideas and to care about how things are made. Craft skills help everyone discover their practical abilities and develop their creative talents. Its fundamental that our young people have the opportunity to make. This presentation by Crafts Council Head of Learning & Talent Development explores what makes craft unique and how to support future makers to take their next steps. Resources and signposting will support schools in developing their creative offer and can be used for Artsmark. The role of the Crafts Council is to nurture and strengthen the craft ecosystem. We want to increase the impact of craft and widen its influence. To achieve this, we will focus our efforts on where we can make most impact – building public audiences for craft; championing craft education and participation; and supporting and developing craft professionals from all backgrounds to develop their talent, knowledge and skills in order to flourish, drive innovation and ensure a resilient, diverse sector. craftscouncil.org.uk RED ROOM
