OUR FESTIVALS OZASIA FESTIVAL

SEPTEMBER Australia’s premiere arts festival for engagement with Asia. Over 11 days, OzAsia Festival presents a diverse program of theatre, dance, music, film, visual arts, food, culture and entertainment, culminating in the spectacular Moon Lantern Festival. The Festival also provides a platform for South Australia to engage politically and economically with Asia.

ADELAIDE CABARET FESTIVAL

JUNE The largest festival of its kind in the world! Adelaide Cabaret Festival brings the Adelaide Festival Centre and the Riverbank precinct to life each winter. The Festival includes classic and contemporary cabaret performances – including music, satire, comedy, story-telling and plenty of opportunities to dance the night away.

ADELAIDE GUITAR FESTIVAL

AUGUST – BIENNIAL A celebration of the world’s most popular instrument. The Festival program contains performances from international, established stars and emerging young talent as well as workshops, masterclasses, artist talks and panel discussions.

COME OUT CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

MAY – BIENNIAL A Festival for schools, children and families to engage with the arts. The Come Out programs for schools and families offer an array of productions, workshops and curated events to excite, challenge and stimulate young audiences.

EDUCATION & YOUNG PEOPLE CentrED CentrED is Adelaide Festival Centre’s core learning program delivered collaboratively with the South Australian Government’s Department of Education and Child Development (DECD) and offering curriculum based arts education programs for school students.

COME OUT CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL This iconic Festival has involved over 2 million children since its inception and is the flagship of Adelaide Festival Centre’s strategy to engage with children, young people and their families.

SOMETHING ON SATURDAY Something on Saturday is a much loved series of shows and art and craft workshops, running at Adelaide Festival Centre throughout each winter.

ON STAGE SUMMER SCHOOLS New for 2016, On Stage is a series of one week performing arts workshops for school aged children that will culminate in a performance.

GREENROOM The GreenRoom program targets 18-30 year olds, offering young people an opportunity to connect with the arts as they move into adulthood, with discounted tickets and exclusive members events. The GreenRoom advocacy program offers students interested in progressing a career in the arts with valuable work experience options.

MULTICULTURAL FOCUS

OZASIA FESTIVAL

Australia’s leading arts Festival for engagement with Asia. OzAsia Festival showcases contemporary Asian arts and culminates in the spectacular Moon Lantern Festival in Elder Park.

ARTS ADMINISTRATORS EXCHANGE

We welcome arts administrator interns from across Asia to the Festival Centre to share professional experience and build relationships.

THE ASIA PACIFIC CENTRE FOR ARTS AND CULTURAL LEADERSHIP

The Asia Pacific Centre for Arts and Cultural Leadership was established in partnership with the University of South Australia to provide training for Asian arts administrators through the University’s Arts and Cultural Management Program. Arts administrators undertake practical placements at Adelaide Festival Centre.

POP UP FESTIVALS IN ASIA

A pop up version of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival has appeared in Hong Kong and work is underway on similar events in Jinan and Qingdao in Shandong, China.

LEADERSHIP OF ASSOCIATION OF ASIA PACIFIC PERFORMING ARTS CENTRES (AAPPAC)

Adelaide Festival Centre is the current chair of AAPPAC, the peak cultural body in the Asia-Pacific region. Its membership includes the Sydney Opera House and major performing arts centres across Asia, Australia and NZ.

WORLD OF CULTURES

The annual World of Cultures programming includes music, dance, performances and displays from Greek, African, Asian, Middle Eastern and European cultures. We welcome the community to these events to discover both traditional and contemporary interpretations of other cultures.


SEASONAL FAVOURITES inSPACE inSpace is a grass-roots program that gives some of Australia’s most talented, independent artists access to Adelaide Festival Centre’s administrative, production and venue support. Since its 2002 launch, hundreds of artists have seen their works come to life through inSpace – a program about high quality, affordable art that’s inclusive, thought-provoking and powerful.

VISUAL ARTS OUR MOB

Working with Country Arts SA and Ananguku arts program, we bring to the city, Our Mob, a state-wide community program, presenting the works of Aboriginal artists in exhibitions held in the Adelaide Festival Centre foyers and gallery.

PERFORMING ARTS COLLECTION The Performing Arts Collection is an archive of prestigious and unique collections that embody over 200 years of South Australian performing arts history.

ADELAIDE FESTIVAL CENTRE

FOUNDATION Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation’s mission is to enrich the lives of generations to come and to give young South Australians an experience that lasts a lifetime. Each year, the Foundation raises funds to support subsidised student tickets for disadvantaged young people and to maintain the GreenRoom young adults membership program. The Foundation also supports the Steel Ryan Fellowship, providing an opportunity for an indigenous arts worker to develop their career; and the Bob Hawke Fellowship, supporting a young Chinese arts administrator to undertake a placement at Adelaide Festival Centre.

HER MAJESTY’S THEATRE The “Grand Old Lady of Grote Street” has been servicing South Australia for over 100 years and is in need of some repair. To fulfil an upgrade of current facilities and expand the capacity of Her Majesty’s Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre has embarked on a project to raise the necessary funds.

Our Scenery Workshops are internationally renowned as the leading theatre construction facility in the Southern Hemisphere. A highlight of the 2014-15 projects was the construction of the set for the Australian season of the international smash hit musical, Matilda, currently presenting at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre.

REDEVELOPMENT

ADELAIDE FESTIVAL CENTRE Along with the redevelopment of Festival Plaza, the SA Government has announced a major building project for Adelaide Festival Centre, including improvements to the building’s exterior and an internal technical upgrade. The Festival Centre sits at the heart of the Plaza and we look forward to being part of this transformative project that will enhance the arts and entertainment attractions in the Riverbank precinct.

The redevelopment will enable us to continue to attract the biggest and best shows to Adelaide, better support presenters and reward patrons with the best arts and entertainment experiences. Ultimately, it will reinforce our reputation as a leading Australian cultural centre.
