Adelaide Guitar Festival Winter School is a week long guitar school, held during the July school holidays, that provides an opportunity for students to learn from some of Australia’s finest guitarists in a small, immersive, guitar playing and skills development intensive. Adelaide Guitar Festival Winter School is held in two main streams: – Guitar Festival Orchestra – based on classical guitar playing and ensemble techniques. – Blues and Roots – traversing a range blues and roots techniques on the acoustic guitar. Martha Masters
Martha Masters first achieved international recognition in 2000 when she won first prize in the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. She has since been an active solo recitalist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist across the United States, Germany, Poland, Russia and China. Beijing Guitar Duo Meng Su and Yameng Wang share a string of awards. Meng Su’s honors include victories at the Vienna Youth Guitar Competition and the Christopher Parkening Young Guitarist Competition. Alirio Diaz (1923-2016) was a Venezuelan classical guitarist, a prolific composer of the music of his country. In a festival exclusive, Dr Paul Nash of the Classical Guitar Society of Victoria has commissioned a new work ‘Homage to Alirio Diaz’, from Hermelindo Ruiz, celebrated Puerto Rican guitarist and composer to premiere at the festival. Facilitated by Dr Paul Nash and featuring Susan Ellis, a previous student of Alirio Diaz the panel will explore and honor the life of one of the world’s most remarkable classical guitarists. Adelaide’s new Walk of Fame celebrates Adelaide Festival Centre’s 45 year history and features more than 130 artists who have graced Festival Centre stages. The star-studded walkway runs between King William Road and the Riverbank Footbridge, connecting all venues.

Things you need to know Venue access and redevelopment
Adelaide Festival Centre access and entrances have changed. For new routes and a map, road closures, drop off zones, and parking advice, please visit the website. The Walk of Fame stretches between King William Road and Elder Park, providing access to all venues and bars. The Festival Theatre’s new entrance is on Elder Park. Register your details online or with your ticket purchase to receive an important SMS and email with up to date access details before your show.
