Women at Work
VISUAL ART PERFORMANCE
As part of OzAsia Festival 2022, several Asian and Asian Australian musicians and visual artists have created exhibitions and performances examining women at work as a response to 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL, playing in Festival Theatre throughout October. Exploring ideas such as the inequitable division of labour across gender and racial divides, the fight for education and employment, and the limitations of both the glass ceiling and the bamboo ceiling, these incredible artists contemplate the cross-section between contemporary and ‘traditional’ womanhood. The exhibitions and performances on the following four pages all explore these concepts in their own unique ways. Easily viewed alone or as a series of events, join us for Women at Work in The Galleries and Festival Theatre foyer throughout OzAsia Festival. Exhibitions and performances as part of Women at Work include: Batik Sangiran, Dream Job, Art, Not War, and Hyoshi in Counterpoint.
