How to measure a broken Spring WIRE DIAMETER: Place formed end of SPRING GAUGE between two coils and COUNT 20 COILS.

ALTERNATIVE: Use a CALIPER ALTERNATIVE : Use a TAPE MEASURE • Measure 20 coils to the nearest 1/16” • Divide total inches by 20 (# of coils measured)

DIRECTION of WIND: LEFT-Hand Wound or RIGHT-Hand Wound?

LEFT WOUND Left Wound (black winding cone)

RIGHT WOUND Right Wound (red winding cone)

DIAMETER = INSIDE DIMENSION in INCHES 1-3/4” 2” 2-5/8” 3-3/4” 6”

ALTERNATIVE: Measure the outside diameter and subtract the wire size TWICE. Left Wound Right Wound

Measure Spring LENGTH of UNWOUND Wire in INCHES

ALTERNATIVE: COUNT total number of coils and multiply by wires size.
