Stunning is not a strong enough word to describe fields of Tulips in Bloom. The mixture of almost every color in the color spectrum is on display. It is truly an experience you will never forget! Weather and tulips blooming can never be fully predicted. History has shown the very best time of year to see the best of the Tulips is the middle to end of April. AmaWaterways knows that cruises that start after 15 April and end by May 1, have the best opportunity to see the Tulips at their best. During that time our charter discount is smaller, but still more than fair. We have contracted for two charters during their prime time. AmaWaterways rarely offers any discounts during this time, but for our groups, with our charter pricing we are still going to be able to save you between $600 to $1,500 per person, depending on the cabin of your choice. This really is a FANTASTIC DEAL. No one else can give you this kind of discount.
The owners of Fun For Less Tours experienced a Tulip Cruise during the last ½ of April in 2019. They couldn’t have hit it any better. They already knew how wonderful Amsterdam is with its canals, windmills and museums and they had already visited Bruges, that is often considered better than Amsterdam, with its old village atmosphere and wonderful canals. The cruise took them to new villages and areas that they had not visited in the past. They loved visiting the dikes that hold back the sea, the village of Hoorn, the Grott Bijgaarden Castles Floral Show outside of Brussels and they loved the village of Ghent. But, what struck them the most was the stunning beauty of the colorful Tulip fields found everywher. Visiting this part of the world any other time of year, pales in comparison to Tulip season.
AmaWaterways offers 7-night cruises starting March 20, with the last one ending May 7. The breeding of Tulips has extended the time Tulips can be seen. There are early blooming, normal blooming, and late blooming Tulips. The best of the best can be seen at Keukenhof Gardens, a little less than an hour’s drive out of Amsterdam. Every year more than 7 million flower bulbs are planted in autumn to bloom in spring. There is a variety of 800 different Tulips spread over almost 80 acres. There are 9 miles of footpaths through out the park, you can do as little or as much as you would like walking the park. Beautiful Tulips are everywhere. A unique and unforgettable experience for everyone. They are open from March 21 through May 10. The ship stops there for 3 plus hours, enough time to see less than ½ of the enormous Tulip extravaganza. Our special tour/ cruise offers you the very best opportunity to witness this Garden IN FULL BLOOM! We have scheduled two visits for your group. We will visit the Garden on the first part of your land tour and then again, the last day before getting off the ship. The chances to see this fantastic park in full bloom is 90%. With so much area to cover, you really need two 3-hour visits anyway.
A favorite place to see tulips in Utah is at Thanksgiving Point. They brag that they have around 300,000 tulips. Compare that to the 7,000,000 in the Keukenhof Gardens, Amsterdam.
