Artist Francesca Forzoni Title Steampunk Butterfly Software Maya, V-Ray, Photoshop “I’m a CGI operator and freelance graphic designer based in London. I studied graphic and communication design at university, and took on work experience as a runner in a post-production company in London back in 2010. In my downtime I spent time teaching myself 3D, and have been developing my skills and knowledge ever since. “VFX has always inspired me, even as a kid. But on a day-to-day basis I try to find inspiration from blogs, photography and everything around me.

The best part about 3D for me is when you start adding materials and experimenting with textures – that’s when the model really comes to life. “This image took me about a month to complete, and the aim was to create a very feminine, delicate piece. I used Maya, V-Ray and Photoshop. Everything was made from scratch, apart from some of the metal textures, which I got from CG Textures. My original inspiration for this piece was On Steampunk Wings, an illustration by Gwendolyn Basala (www.gwendolynbasala.com).” frankie@fforzoni.com www.francescaforzoni.com
