EDITORIAL The recipe for success
W
hether it is because you work in the fashion industry or you are just passionate about style, you have probably asked yourself: what is the perfect wardrobe? Take a few seconds to come up with the answer in your mind. Have you got it? In reality, the simplest questions are also the most difficult to answer. But at Mango, as you already know, we are inspired by challenges. So, every season we think about how we can do our bit to create wardrobe we all dream of. We start our menu by selecting those infallible ingredients that one never gets tired of (it may be your favourite appetizer, or that coffee just after you wake up that puts you in a good mood for the rest of the day). Next, we add every essential nutrient that balances a healthy diet. And lastly, we put in that special touch that spices up the result. This recipe, cooked with love, results in collections where both timeless and versatile garments (stating at page 4) live alongside the trends of the moment (from page 27). In perfect harmony.
So this month we visualised knitwear essentials that go beyond the seasons, but also novelties that will result in an instant crush. From the perfect sweater to give as a gift –and in a double-size (XS-S and M-L) that makes hitting the mark easy peasy– to printed jumpsuits with an Asian inspiration. From straight-fit jeans that never go out of style to the new little black dress, with a smocked fabric, that will be the star this holiday season. And we do it thinking of each and every person who’s seated at our table. That’s why, in this double issue of the Styling Book, which spans the months of December and January, you’ll also love to discover our special Chinese New Year/Lunar Year collection. Its bright and vibrant tones transmit the same good vibrations we created it with from our studio, by the Mediterranean Sea. The table is set. Happy holidays everyone!

ew garments have stood the test of time as well as the sailor shirt. The Breton stripes have always been able to adapt to the trends and still maintain their charm today. The MARINIÈRE is a story of reinvention, a humble garment that became an eternal symbol of FRENCH CHIC.

Tadzio, the teenager in “Death in Venice” and symbol of eternal beauty, also wore a marinière in some of the film’s iconic sequences.
With Jean Paul Gaultier, it became a symbol of the industry’s openness to sexuality and the questioning of prevailing roles.
The decade that was defined by the grunge scene that found in Kurt Cobain its biggest exponent, who also wore this multi-faceted garment on several occasions.
It was one of the favourite garments of Alexa Chung, Kate Moss, Olivia Palermo and even the Duchess of Cambridge. Today, it is a must in any stylish wardrobe.
That the French Navy ordered that the marinière should have 21 stripes, one for each victory of Napoleon Bonaparte. In addition, the legislation also indicated the thickness of each stripe: the blue ones had to be one centimetre thick and the white ones, double.

LEAN is a project of the Woman Visual Merchandising Department arising from the constant need to improve our stores on a daily basis. It aims to create unique and inspiring spaces for our customers that will help present our garments in the best possible light, and therefore help build and consolidate our brand image. CLEAN also represents a process of transition towards a new store concept, the NEWMED, which will help reflect even further the DNA of MANGO inside our stores.
Through a series of eight videos, from the Visual Merchandising Department we will explain the reason behind the project and how to implement it, through tips including furniture density, a review of the different visual languages and producing a layout. Collaborating closely with CPM, Collection Structure and Interior Design, we aim to offer useful and accessible information for all employees.
