Southern Europe was the most visited

region with 37.3 % of respondents taking their last summer holiday to that destination region.

• Southern Europe and Northern Europe were

visited by a larger percentage of Germans, while Western Europe was a less common destination, in comparison with the overall results.

‰ Italy, Spain, Germany, France, the United States, Austria, Greece, Croatia and Turkey were the top recent summer holiday destinations for Germans. Italy was the destination most visited by Germans, by 14.1% of respondents.

‰ Compared with all Western European respondents, Germans travelled in lesser percentage to France and Greece and more to Italy, Spain and Germany.

All other destinations received less than 3.0% of the answers.

F. Evaluation of Summer Holiday Destination The presence of areas of natural beauty is given the highest mean evaluation by Germans. The factor with the lowest mean evaluation is nightlife.

The mean factor evaluation given by Germans and the regional factor evaluation are similar, 7.3 and 7.4 respectively. • In general, the mean factor evaluations by Germans are similar to the regional results. The factors opportunity for adventure and discovery and nightlife, however, receive lower mean evaluations by Germans.
