COBIS MUN Conference Programme Thursday, March 3rd, 2016 Registration will be open all day on Thursday, March 3rd. All participants are expected to report to the Registration Desk upon arrival at the Intercontinental Hotel to officially sign in and collect their Conference Packs. The Registration Desk will be located on the ground floor in the lobby. 09:00 – 12:00 Sightseeing A sightseeing tour will be organised for all participants present on Thursday morning. Participants will have the opportunity to visit two key sites in the city: the Dimitri Gusti National Village Museum, featuring recreations of dwellings of traditional architecture; the Palace of the Parliament, which is the second largest administrative building in the world (after the Pentagon). 09:00 – 12:00 Administrative Session for Chairs Location: TBC As COBISMUN brings together Chairs from different schools and countries, this session will be organized to ensure coordination alignment of Chairs regarding flow of debate and procedural matters. 13:00 – 14:00 Lunch Location: Lunch will be provided at the Intercontinental Hotel. Late arrivals can join the returning party for lunch. 14:00 – 16:30 Preparatory Session Location: Rapsodia Room, Intercontinental Hotel, 1st Floor This session is intended for all delegates. The session will be conducted by the Chairs. Within this session, delegates will review the Rules of Procedure and Flow of Debate. Chairs will run an abridged mock MUN, in order to give the delegates a view of the procedures to be followed within their respective committees. It is recommended that all delegates attend this session. 18:00 – 19:30 Opening Ceremony Location: Central University Library of Bucharest ‘Carol I’ The Opening Ceremony to the inaugural COBISMUN conference will be hosted at the ‘Carol I’ Library, situated within walking distance from the Intercontinental Hotel, and in close proximity to important landmarks such as the National Museum of Art and the Romanian Athenaeum. Dress code: black-tie or traditional.


Friday, March 4th- Saturday March 5th, 2016 Friday and Saturday will involve full-day committee sessions. The meeting rooms for each committee are: Security Council (UNSC) – Opereta Room, Intercontinental Hotel, 2nd Floor Human Rights Council (UNCHR) – Bolero Room, Intercontinental Hotel, 2nd Floor Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) – Opera Room, Intercontinental Hotel, 2nd Floor UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) – Rapsodia Room, Intercontinental Hotel, 1st Floor Friday, March 4th, 2016 07:30 – 09:00 Breakfast Location: Corso Brasserie, Intercontinental Hotel, Ground Floor 09:00 – 11:00 All Committees in Session Locations: Security Council: Opereta Room, Human Rights: Bolero Room, ECOSOC: Opera Room, Refugee Agency: Rapsodia Room Within this session, the Chairs will present the main rules of procedures. After roll call and procedural matters, delegates will be introduced to the first topic of discussion, and will be expected to present their positions on the issue at hand; committees will then typically enter lobbying in order to draft/merge resolutions (only on the first topic of debate). 10:00 – 11:00 Advisors’ Meeting Location: Concerto Room, Intercontinental Hotel, 2nd Floor Supervisors will have an opportunity to raise any questions or concerns during this meeting. Important notifications will be shared with supervisors during this meeting. 11:00 – 11:15 Break Location: Mirror Room (Foyer of the Rapsodia Room), Intercontinental Hotel, 1st Floor The exact timing of the breaks will vary, depending on the stage of debate within each committee. During breaks delegates are expected to not interrupt ongoing sessions. They are expected to return to their respective committees after the established time. 11:15 – 13:00 All Committees in Session Locations: Security Council: Opereta Room, Human Rights: Bolero Room, ECOSOC: Opera Room, Refugee Agency: Rapsodia Room Committees will progress at their own pace, moving from lobbying to formal debate on resolutions.

11:15 – 13:00 Approval Panel Location: Concerto Room, Intercontinental Hotel, 2nd Floor Approval Panel is comprised of advisors and/or supervisors. Draft Resolutions must be submitted to the Approval Panel before being debated in the respective committees. The Main Submitter must accompany the Draft Resolution in order to execute recommended changes.

13:00 – 14:00 Lunch Location: Modigliani Restaurant, Intercontinental Hotel, Ground Floor (TBC) Committees will break for lunch on a rota basis, based on the decision of the Chair in coordination with the Logistics team.

15:45 – 17:15 All Committees in Session Locations: Security Council: Opereta Room, Human Rights: Bolero Room, ECOSOC: Opera Room, Refugee Agency: Rapsodia Room 18:00 – 19:00 Treasure Hunt Location: en-route between the Intercontinental Hotel and Caru-cu-Bere Restaurant Delegates will participate in a treasure hunt, taking in some of the sites of central Bucharest, accompanied by impartial members of the staff team. 19:00 – 22:00 Romanian Traditional Dinner Location: Caru-cu-Bere Restaurant, Stavropoleos Street Nr. 5 Besides serving tasty traditional Romanian foods, the restaurant is also classified as a historical monument of architecture, featuring sculptures, stained glass windows, paintings, gothic décor and murals of Old Bucharest.

19:00 – 23:00 Theme Party (1920s Murder Mystery) Location: Ronda Room, Intercontinental Hotel In this final dinner students will take part in a Murder Mystery set in a 1920s Speakeasy dinner followed by an International Party. We request students to bring famous songs from different countries/cultures to have a nice dance mix. Dress code: 1920s themed, black tie.
