Liz Ord ran such a fabulous bar at our popular Artists Behind Bars event, that we invited them to make something for the festival. This performance draws on Liz's experience working in the fashion industry as a model in some major fashion campaigns. Look out for it popping up at different festival locations across the week.

This performance is captioned.

ACCESS INFORMATION:

Philippe is one of France's most acclaimed directors, yet we rarely see his work in the UK. Like all of Philippe's work, it's an incredibly visual show, starting from a very simple premise: in this case, five scarecrows running a pirate radio station. It's lots of absurd fun!

You may well remember Cade & MacAskill from their performance as Double Pussy Clit F*ck at the Festival in 2017, or for their hit show Moot Moot that we presented in 2018. This is their richest work to date, set backstage on the set of a movie: Pinocchio. Don't miss the latest hit Fierce commission.

ACCESS INFORMATION:

Both shows are captioned. On Wednesday 12, the show will be audio described with a touch-tour will be available.

ACCESS INFORMATION - There is a chill out area outside the performance space, available during and after the show, should you need a quiet room.

This is the long overdue follow up to Demi's Edinburgh Fringe hit 'Life is No Laughing Matter', Expect tough material tackled with lightness, a sense of humour, and Demi's infectious Brummie charm.

ACCESS INFORMATION - Wolf Safari is a physical participatory performance, taking place outside at night, taking on traits of a wolf. It involves walking and at times some running within a defined area (there is no fixed requirement to run at a particular speed however). Some parts include stepped access. Participants should wear shoes and clothes they can move easily in, and be warm in. If you have further questions email: contact@wearefierce.org

Finland has a reputation for producing collectives that blur categories of art making, getting us to think in new ways. See also: Reality Research Center, & Live Art Society. See Brum from a wolf's perspective. Endorsed by Shakira!

If you liked Every Body Electric in 2019 or PILGRIM in 2017 then this is a show for you. Let's be honest, gabber doesn't have the best reputation amongst sub genres of techno. This performance explores the potential of the music and its hard reputation, to allow us to be a bit... softer. The gabber moves are also particularly impressive.

ENERGY, sometimes its palpable. Prepare to be hypnotised by this piece by one of Canada's most exciting talents. We watched this piece on video during lockdown and even through the screen it was impressive - we can't wait to experience it live with you all. Colour, Music, Movement - a simple but winning combination!

Simone Aughterlony has become a firm Fierce favourite after hit shows at the festival in 2015 & 2017. This time, text plays a more central role in the performance. The audience is moved through a number of different social settings using one hundred chairs. Not to be FIERCEmissed!says

Have you ever actually just stood in the Bullring and had a good look around? How is this space similar to other shopping centres? These Swiss artists make intelligent observations in the temple of shopping.

We have a long history of presenting projects that give children agency and create scenarios where traditional power hierarchies are flipped or expectations subverted, such as the infamous Haircuts by Children (Mammaliam Diving Reflex), Dina Roncevic's Car Deconstruction or Ant Hampton's Crazy But True. This year's offering is an intimate little gem!

ACCESS INFORMATION - This show is a mix of seated & standing, audiences requiring a seat will be able to have one.

Luca Manning is an artist who questions rigidity. Shaped initially by the buzzing Glasgow music and arts scene, Luca now finds their heart stolen by all that East London has to offer.

Luca is a resident artist at London’s iconic Roundhouse where they are continually expanding their practice, allowing them to create transdisciplinary work that offers an immersive experience for the audience; a chance to escape the rigidity of everyday life. Luca’s world is an invitation to strive for what lies beyond the mundane and to exist freely, proudly and fully. Luca will be joined by musicians Xhosa Cole & Jamie Safir.

We're excited to be partnering with B:Music to present this free Friday evening concert from this hotly tipped young talent. Pop down after work and start your weekend FIERCEright!says

We were incredibly disappointed that crazinisT artisT wasn't able to join us in July for the Healing Gardens of Bab due to visa difficulties, so we've extended our invitation to make a performance for the Festival instead. Quite simply the leading light of performance art in Ghana.

We've been working online with the SaVAge K'Lub all year because of the pandemic, so this is the first time they’ll actually make it to Birmingham! This is the night their exhibition will truly come alive with performances from SaVAge royalty. An incredible showcase of art and performance from the Pacific region, part of the Healing Gardens of Bab.

This is a highly visual, and intriguing show, from one of the most exciting artistic voices in the UK. Performed in a turquoise bath tub, microscopic cameras create incredible illusions that allow us to see the body as a landscape. Expect to cross mountains and oceans, from toes to nose.

The combination of Elisa's music and Zoe & Hanako's dance is irresistible. You may remember Hanako from Make Banana Cry at Fierce 2019. Prepare for Elisa to become your favourite new popstar!

It's been a while since Brummie Bab Jade Blackstock performed in her home town - so we decided to do something about it. Jade studied with Nigel Rolfe (Fierce 2019) at the Royal College of Art, and we can't wait to see what she does transforming everyday materials.
