WELCOME For the past 50 years, Fiesta Bowl Charities has been dedicated to being “More Than Just a Game®” and serving the Arizona community. In a year full of uncertainty and challenges, Fiesta Bowl Charities stayed true to our mission to serve hundreds of thousands of Arizonans through events and initiatives focusing on our core pillars of youth, sports and education. With a total of $5.5 million in charitable giving in 2020-21, we provided $2.5 million to 44 nonprofits, awarded $1 million in COVID-19 emergency relief, donated $2 million to the Margaret T. Hance Park Revitalization Project and fulfilled the wishes of 200 teachers with $2,500 grants. From mask distributions and playground builds to virtual parties and statewide kindness caravans, we have had a unique and monumental year. This was all possible because of the continued support of our incredible fans, partners, volunteers, board, committee, ambassadors and staff. Thank you to all!

Spirit
Spirit was created from a solar flare in 1971 and found his way to Arizona. Bursting with energy, Spirit worked to find someone to partner with that shared in his uniqueness. Spirit heard rumblings of a new college football bowl game called the Fiesta Bowl and since he loves to be the life of the party, the Fiesta Bowl was a perfect match! Spirit wanted more than just a game however, he wanted to partner with someone who shared his values of Youth, Sports and Education. He had found his home. Since that faithful meet up, Spirit and the Fiesta Bowl have been a staple of the Valley. Everyday Spirit brings the same energy as the solar flare from which he came. He makes sure every event he attends is a Fiesta!

Volunteerism For the past 50 years, the Fiesta Bowl has been proud to serve the Arizona community through volunteerism. Fiesta Bowl volunteers, Board of Directors, Ambassadors and Yellow Jacket Committee members work endless hours to host high profile college football games and events.
We are honored and thrilled to be the presenting partner for the Fiesta Bowl volunteer program. This collaboration is a natural fit with our Mobilize AZ public health movement. Through Mobilize AZ, we are tackling the health challenges hitting Arizonans the hardest by bringing together education, resources, and communities to reduce the impact of opioid misuse and substance use disorder, mental health, and diabetes.

PLAY AT HANCE PARK On December 15, 2020, the “Fiesta Bowl PLAY at Hance Park” was unveiled. The 20,000-square-foot PLAY is the centerpiece of the opening phase of the Hance Park renovation and was made possible thanks to a $2 million legacy gift from the Fiesta Bowl and supporting partners: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, BHHS Legacy and AZSTA. PLAY features a climbing wall, a separate net climbing structure, a water mist play feature and a sand play area positioned under a shade canopy. Its other unique amenities include three animal-themed play structures. The animal play structures are made of 95 percent recycled plastic lumber and are GreenCircle Certified.
Celebrating the opening of this new amenity is a thrill, and I'm grateful for the commitment of the Fiesta Bowl and its partners to make it a reality, Having unique features like this one, make the park a destination for residents citywide and creates a neighborhood park for those who live nearby. A vibrant and active park will also help attract families and visitors to our growing downtown for years to come.

The city is grateful to the Fiesta Bowl and its partners for this significant commitment to the Hance Park Revitalization Project. Their legacy gift jump-started this important renovation of the park, which is crucial to the ongoing revitalization and growth of downtown. It's also exciting to celebrate this beautiful new playground for what it offers to families: a place for their kids to get outside, jump around and play during this otherwise difficult year. By masking and physically distancing, they can do it safely and have some fun!

Wishes for teachers
For the fifth year in a row, the Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers program helped to make classroom wishes across the state come true. Teachers filled out an online application to explain their classroom wish and 200 teachers from across the state were randomly-selected to receive a $2,500 grant to make that wish come true. • • • • • •
5,439 total years teaching 70,432 students impacted by these wishes being granted 45 different municipalities or townships included 161 different schools selected 67 school districts and 19 charter schools 71 colleges and universities represented from teacher alma maters What’s more fun than granting wishes? Wishes for Teachers is even more meaningful this year as teachers have adapted to extraordinary circumstances. Desert Financial has had a long history of supporting education to honor the legacy of our 15 founders, all teachers. It’s our pleasure to serve as the title partner for this year’s Wishes for Teachers, and collaborate with Fiesta Bowl Charities to make those exciting calls to deserving teachers.

Spirit's birthday CHALLENGE: THE 2020 REMIX September 25, 2020 While Spirit’s Birthday is typically celebrated with a flag-football game, this year over 300 children from Boys & Girls Clubs across the state participated in Spirit’s Birthday Challenge: The 2020 Remix, a week-long virtual event. Challenges varied from team chants to relay races. The week culminated with an online birthday party to celebrate our favorite mascot and announce the high scores from the week.
Spirit's Birthday was a welcomed and much needed addition to our summer camp experience last year. Summer 2020 was a challenging one, with COVID still very much a factor in our staff and members' realities. It was refreshing to focus on something so amusing and exciting at that time, as it incorporated many elements of fun and Club spirit that makes the Boys & Girls Club experience so special.
It was so fun, especially the dancing! And it was a great break from [virtual] school.

Iowa State WINS PLAYSTATION® FIESTA BOWL January 2, 2021 | Glendale, Arizona The 50th Anniversary of the Fiesta Bowl was indeed historic. In a matchup that was the first-ever between No. 25 Oregon and No. 10 Iowa State, the Cyclones hit the Fiesta Bowl field for the first time in school history after their most successful regular season ever. To add some more excitement, both starting quarterbacks were Arizona high school stars – the first time in PlayStation® Fiesta Bowl history that both starting quarterbacks were Arizona natives. The Cyclones made the most of playing in the biggest game in program history, its first-ever New Year’s Six Bowl, defeating the Ducks 34-17 behind solid play on both sides of the ball. Gilbert Perry High School alumni and Offensive Player of the Game Brock Purdy went 20-of-29 passing for 156 yards and a touchdown, with 39 rushing yards and another score. Star running back Breece Hall carried the ball 34 times (one short of the Bowl record) for 136 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, linebacker Mike Rose picked off his fifth ball of the season while fellow linebacker O’Rien Vance racked up four tackles, one for loss and recovered two fumbles en route to Defensive Player of the Game honors. 58
