The Lisbon Square, Porto find itself in the limit between the medieval city, with its angular and tortouos streets, and the monumental scale of the bourgeois city.
market that used to exist there - the proposal consisted not only in formal aspect of the square but also in the new programs and new forms of use.
In the vicinity of important city marks - Avenida dos Aliados, Torre dos ClĂŠrigos, Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, etc. - the Lisbon Square is abandoned and degraded, being an unsafe spot in the downtown.
The presented proposal begun by the complete removal of all the buildings that existed in the square - includin the ruins of the old market in order to mark the physical limits of this square.
This competition demanded that, starting with the current situation of the square - using or not he ruins of the
This solution also demanded a new answer to the hard topography of the square.
This issue was solved by design three flights of stairs uniting connecting three different levels that set view on three important buildings: on the reitoria da universidade, on torre dos clĂŠrigos and on livraria lello. This square would be equipped with systems and urban furniture that would allow several traditional parties, markets and temporary outdoor exhibitions.

This present work had its roots on a tention that exists and is inherent to the City space - the tention between Private and Public space, in all its gradations - and tryed to translate it into a constructed, real space.
This complex was intended The initial concept implied that the proposed set of buildings were divided in two different parts - one which contained the public program and the other that contained the private program. These parts could The concept was the starting also be set appart by their xoint for the presented prophysical and material differject: a group of multifuncences: the public program tional buildings that must would correspond to the have housing program that cocrete part of the building; should be placed in Santa the wooden part will lay on Maria de Belem, Lisboa, in the concrete and house the the area between the new residential program. This space of relationship may possess several different forms of use: distribution an acess spaces, living areas - interior and exterior - etc. These in-between spaces allowed to the initial concept to gain strength: these spaces allow the connection between House and City, between Interior and Exterior spaces and between Public and Private spaces.

CAXIAS TRAIN STATION
Caxias Train Station
AA02
Situated outside the city of Lisbon, Caxias is a residential area whose center is situated in the palace and royal gardens. This complex, which has great historical relevance - it was the portugues royal family’s summer house - is now abandoned. This project begins with this building’s need for rehabilitation and restoration as well as with the setting of new connections with its surroundings - convento da cartuxa, barcarena riverside, são bruno’s fortress, caxias trainstation, etc.
The recovery of this complex will gain its purpose with the correct understanding of its surroundings. The old gardens of Caxias royal palace were integrated in a broader urban masterplan - from convento da cartuxa to the new Caxias trainstation. This masterplan comprises the rehabilitation of the old palace as well as the construction of new cultural buildings - an art gallery and an auditorium.
The public building that was chosen to develop in a more extensive way was the new Caxias trainstation. Because of ts interrest and position on the main square of this place, this building was presented as strategic point, fundamental to the population of Caxias

HOUSING PROTOTYPES IN AJUDA
Housing Prototypes in Ajuda
AA03
In the historical neighborhood of Ajuda, Lisbon, there is a complex composed of three unocuppied warehouses that used to belong to INEM. It was asked to use the space left over by the removal of the middle warehouse for the instalation of structure capable of housing at least 12 housing prototypes of 30 m².
The strategy was to install a structure slabs supporterd by reinforced concrete walls. These slabs were perforated by two large green patios and also by the vertical access systems - three stairwells.
The great area that this slab system possesses allowed the instalation not of 12 but of 20 housing prototypes.
This system of slabs solves the gap between the implantation site and the site situated on the North side of it and, at the same time, provides generous common spaces around the prototypes.
