Winnipeg Jets celebrate Black History Night
The Winnipeg Jets celebrated Black History Month in February along with the NHL by honoring diversity in hockey, past and current players, and driving positive social change. Winnipeg Jets alumnus Ray Neufeld participated in a special ceremonial puck drop during the February 28th game against the visiting Los Angeles Kings. This game was recognized as Black History Night in partnership with Afro-Caribbean Association of Manitoba Inc. Jets players also wore Know Their Name T-shirts, designed by local Black-owned company Zueike, to bring more awareness to the initiative. Throughout the month, the Jets have share stories important to the sport and community, and Jets players join all other NHL teams in donning Willie O'Ree/Equality helmet decals in honor of Black History Month and the NHL's first Black player.
