MLA's Statement recognizes Clarita Nazario for her community volunteerism

Notre Dame MLA Malaya Marcelino issued an MLA Statement recognizing the community and charitable involvement of Clarita Nazario in the Filipino community and in her hometown Malolos, Bulacan in a simple ceremony held recently at the lobby of Manitoba Legislative Building.

Clarita Nazario has been active in the community volunteerism in the Filipino community in and in the Philippines in various capacities, as the former board of directors and treasurer of the Canadian Philippine Centre of Manitoba, and currently the vice president of the Original Filipino Senior Association of Manitoba, and former president of the Bulacan Association of Manitoba and member of the Ladies of Rizal. She is also a member of the Manitoba Canadian Filipino Association (MaCFA).

In the Philippines, before immigrating to Canada in 1995, Clarita donated her sewing machine equipment to the Malolos prison to provide lessons in dressmaking. One of the former lead workers who has been in prison was hired as the sewing instructor, giving her the chance to work with a minimal salary. She had been engaged in the fashion industry while living in Malolos, Bulacan.

In Winnipeg, Clarita is busy with her home based-nursing home and she dabbles also in sewing barong and other women's dresses, like gowns and bridal ensembles. During Foklorama, Clarita sells some national costumes and other items in the Pearl of Orient Pavilion for her kababayans who would like to enjoy a piece of nostalgia.

Clarita was accompanied by her children during the ceremony in the lobby of the Legislative building.
