My first job as an architect was in the family firm while I was still an architecture student. Here I worked on classical tuscanian country houses, following all the process phases from the concept, through dealing with clients and the building site. . . . I graduated in 2016 with professor Adolfo Natalini with the thesis “Finding Bussola”. For the project I focused first on the landscape architecture, then analyzed different typologies of concert arenas, adding the project itself a Superstudio touch.

.

. . . In 2017 I moved to Rotterdam for an internship at NIO Architecten. Here I focused on organic architecture at his best, from the concept to the final drawings. At NIO I worked on different fields of our job, from public building, to urban design and artistic installation.

Educational background . 2009 - 2016 University of Florence

Five years Master’s degree Florence, Italy

.

. . .

Working experiences 2012 - Today Garuglieri Architetti

In Studio Ossidiana I took mainly care of the digital side of the work, but we used to get often in contact with materials, as concrete and his components are an essential element of the philosophy of the firm. There I directly collaborated on projects about children’s playgrounds, installations and the winning project of Prix de Rome 2018.

. . .

2018, March - October KAW

From March 2018 had an internship at KAW Architecten still in Rotterdam. Here I worked mainly on a more traditional kind of architecture, based on brick, wood and involving green building, even if in a few cases we joined some ideas competition where we experimented some new strategies. Here I participated in projects about schools, civic centers, and healthcares.

San Donato Mobile project comes from the need of building a green and eco-sustainable neighborhood, in the area that once was known for the FIAT factory in Firenze. The whole project had been developed referring to the context to let every single building fitting with the heritage and the legacy of the area, but at the same time not missing what was the aim, to develop an architecture that reflects nowadays needs. The 5 floors building has a steel structure and uses POROTON bricks and woolrock. On both the recognizability and technological point of view, it is distinguished by a series of mobile solar shutters, scrolling on a steel frame slightly prominent to admit continuity on the facade. Another well recognizable point is the stairs system based on circular cylinders, placed in the middle of the structure, working as distribution to the apartments as well. On top, it is expected a huge platform to cover a public restoration space on a side and part of the penthouses. This part is covered in photovoltaic panel to contribute to the building energetical needs.

For decades the wonderful no man’s land between the outhfall of Motrone river and the northern side of Lido di Camaiore had his reputation as mediterrean capital for the american showbussiness (and not only), inbetween jazz, soul and pop, thanks to the enthusiasm of Sergio Bernardini and his unforgiven creatures: the cozy and vibrating music hall “La Bussola” (that in english can be translated as the compass), on the seaside of Focette’s beach, to wich follows the jazz space “il Bussolotto” and, from 1976 the huge circus styled tent “BussolaDomani”. The fame of this music temple is increasing everyday untille the sudden death of his father Bernardini, in 1993 cause of a car accident. After that the circus tent and everything with it lay on the promenade of Lido di Camaiore, like a beached whale that slowly rots. It is finally demolished in 2000 leaving behind him a huge sense of emptiness in the town and in those who lived his glorious past. The pinewood, the sea and the dunes. This are the main elements from whom it started the projectation of the main building of this thesis. Meant to became Versilia’s main landmark, with immediate recognizability, a futuristic body that at the same time perfectly merge with the elements around it.It is possible to immediately notice the dense pillars forest that sustain its steel and concrete structure. The continuos crossing of vertical elements wants to recreate the pinewood in the area, the most typical element you can find there. Other main element is the big stair, built by concrete aggregates and oxidants elements that give it a particular yellowish color with the aim of recalling the sand of the beach. The multiple steps to get into the building instead stands for the dunes that once use to be there, but that were characterizing the old seashore. At the same time the hill appear upside down with the goal of guiding the audience inside the building creating a focal point on the main entrances.

Palazzo dei Diamanti is actually one of the most beautiful examples of italian Renaissance architecture. Built in Ferrara along the Erculean Addition in 1492 it is well recognizable for his diamond-shaped facade. Over the years, after being Ferrara’s main landmark it became a modern art museum. Unfortunately, cause of a lack of funds it hasn’t been renovated for years. The proposal for the extension of the Contemporary Art Museum of Ferrara in Palazzo dei Diamanti was intended to respect the existing garden, the backyard, the separation wall and of course the historical building. It created a floating exhibition space at 3 meters of high and at 10 centimeters from the wall. The relationship between the garden and the yard does not change, in the meanwhile, a brand new space for exhibitions and conferences is created using at the best the potential space. In the projection is considered the environmental aspect like light usage, ventilation and cooling. We did not propose just a glass pavilion, that would have been absolutely not productive for a museum experience. Instead, a floating circular pavilion is presented, landing like a spaceship without touching the original palace.

There is an old story for kids in Assen, it is about a huge dog that protect the locals and that live in symbiosis with them. As the brand new station in Assen was projected, there was the need for a guardian of the main new door of the city. Who better than a loyal, huge and proud dog can welcome you back home? The tender, with the Geemente of Assen as a client, asked for a landmark of the renewed area. The winning idea was to make a particular system with lights and sounds and in the core a huge statue of a 6 meters tall dog. The dog was modeled with Tsplines and built in laser cutted wood. The finiture is in dark, fake wood, polyester, to give him the proud attitude and to protect him at the same time from the weather. There are 20 red lights on the body of the dog, and many more on the ground, that are activated with sensors every time somebody walks by. The sensors can activate sounds and a fog effect water made. From the dog, a series of 360 lights and sensors, guide the visitor in the direction of Assen main square through the urban green. In the same way, under the square pass the station car street. In this case again we find other lights and sensors that can be activated by the passage of the cars. The sensor activates the light one second after a car pass by and all combined give the impression to be following this one.

The Wolf is back at the service of Guccio’s inhabitants, but the town has changed in the meanwhile and it is time to find a new cove for him. Following then the old bottaccio line it comes down in the valley, not anymore in the old historical center, but where the population needs more his presence, nearby the newly built parts of the town. Inside of a small wood is recreated ideally the “walk of Saint Francis” that lead to Assisi. The Wolf is in the between the two, protecting both the pilgrims and the inhabitants of Gubbio that can feel safe and comfortable in his grove. In the intervention area are planned three different green areas with 2 main landmarks to represent Gubbio and Assisi, while the central one is Wolf’s llair. In the Lair there s gonna be a 6 meters tall and 6 meters long wooden statue of the “houseowner”. The 3 elements are gonna be surrounded by a small river and a walkpath. The area all around is planned to be fulfilled with black hornbeams, holm oaks and plane tree. Their big leaves crown is meant to be functional, as they are going to create shadows areas, and with an evocative meaning, as the intention is to recreate a fantastical atmosphere. The scheme where the plants works as a barrier to hide the path, breaks up where the wolf is to permits the view on the historical center and the Roman amphitheater.

While Columbus went off in search of new sea routes and new worlds, Doria stayed home and fought off in turn the Spanish, the French and barbarian pirates. One of the wiliest fighting men and politicians of his day, Andrea Doria, is credited as the first man to discover how to sail against the wind and became Admiral of the Genoese Fleet and ‘Father of his country’. It is to Andrea Doria and his glorious sea battles that we dedicate this work Dark Wind. The sculpture consists of a steel frame of 0,9x0,9x2,5 meters, with wooden drawers which contain seven pieces of ‘memory glass’. These pieces of colored glass memorize the sensibility of the seven rooms where the work could be exhibited. So, for each exhibition room, there is a specific ‘memory glass’ which gives the work its distinctive mood. The top of the steel frame is sealed with transparent glass. It forms a little 3D projection room where one of the sea battles of Andrea Doria is vaguely visible, as a kind of hologram. It is as if one of the famous tapestries of the sea battles of Andrea Doria comes alive. Dark Wind is an animation of the tapestry, an animation where the distinction between wind and ship dissolves, what is memory and what is dream is not clear, where the smell of gunpowder and victory mingles. Time and space dissolve. There is only the smoky sensation of the wind in your eyes.

Corona Borealis constellation is generally considered to represent a crown given by Dionysus to Ariadne, the daughter of Minos of Crete after she had been abandoned by the Athenian prince Theseus. When she wore the crown at her marriage to Dionysus, he placed it in heaven to commemorate their wedding. The observatory houses are thought to be nestled along Roccascalegna’s hill as Corona Borealis stars, as they were a necklace on it. A necklace meant to beautify and not to become the main character. The goal is not to overcame the image of the Rocca that already represents a strong and recognizable landmark, but it asks to be part of it, creating a secondary point of view respecting the existing one. The spaces of the Rocca are reused and the only brand new ambient is the restaurant area, thought as it was a covered square. Jems in the necklace are the Observatory Houses. Every house or cabin corresponds to a different Corona Borealis star and their dimensions change regarding the light emission of every one of them. All the design process is based on a module made by Xlam cladded in dark wooden tiles. The main shape that emerges is the house archetype, to lead the guest to a recognizable shape, to let him feel comfortable and face the primal instinct of fearing the night. Night must be considered as a friend. Constellations have always guided explorers and mariners along their way, and the purpose of the Observatory House is to recreate this link between humans and stars. In any of them, the module for the bedroom in 30° sloped, looking at the sky. Starry nights and galaxies are ceilings. The room raises the head of the guest showing him what otherwise he would be missing.

Taj Mahal is the symbol of Moghul culture at his climax. It is past and the future of it. All around it gravitates all Agra’s region. It is the most wonderful and controversial monument of all the time, as it enacts the pure expression of both two totally opposite statement, Eros and Thanatos, Love and Death. Looking at the future with the memory of the past. That is the main mission of the project. To link to Taj Mahal with a thin, delicate wire. It is used then a black stainless steel as the main component, to connect with the aspect that it was supposed to have, and meant to be very reflective to repeat the past and particularly his more noble counterpart to whom it is a service. As already said the complex float continuously between past and future involving the Taj Mahal in his dancing. To reach the core of the project, it needs to pass along a path going through some minor structures, similar to treasure chests. Inside of them is held educative environments to celebrate the memory of the great past Mughal’s emperors: Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir. Memory and revelation is the great richness. Back to the past with the eyes on the future. After spent time in exploring and discovering region ancient and strong roots the area change function. Inside the main building is thought to be a science citadel. The landmark of the area will be a black steel cone shaped element, inside whom will be a working hydroelectric power plant that produces energy from turbines disposed in Yamuna’s river. Nowadays India’s most used resource is still coal. So it needs to be done a step forward into the future and lead the nation to a more sustainable solution that could have a bad impact on the environment. From the inside of the museum, it opens a huge window looking at Taj Mahal to remember that it is both part of the past and of the future of the nation and it needs to be preserved.

As blooming out from his support, Zagara explodes and welcome his user between his petals. Its endearing design, its shapes and at the same time its elegant attitude allows it to fit in almost every kind of ambient, depending on the colors the client decide it should wear. The steel and wood structure make of it an easily transportable furniture and the usage of materials is thought to immediately link it with LUXY, but at the same to add a new valuable choice to an already exhaustive catalog. Zagara structure is composed of a wooden part that works as a base for the more complicated steel one, thought to shape the charming shapes of it. In any case, the two parts are separate so there is the possibility to change the wooden legs with an easier solution if the client or the final location requires it, For the lining part of Zagara the inspiration comes from LUXY upholstery catalog, using them in different combinations. Red Zagara model uses Cat.B 259 for the main and 260 for the seat, Zagara Cappuccino uses Cat. B 308 for the main and 316 for the seat, Zagara Blue use Cat. B 274 for the main and 273 for the seat, Zagara Green use Cat. B 321 for the main and 320 for the seat, Zagara Black use Cat. B 1016 for the main and 1017 for the seat, In this case, are reported some examples but it could be realized in many other variations.

Horismos is a commission for an art installation/ playground for the new elementary school of Vleuten. The project starts from suggestions present in the site, as the Frontier of the Roman Empire which passes few kilometers from the school and as the children stories of Kees Valkenstein, writer after which the school is named. The project exists in three dimensions: is a landscape, is a space, and is a surface to be touched. It is a succession of horizons, which are the echoes of the Roman frontiers that becomes space. They are the scene of the Alps of Kees Valkenstein story. It is a space that can be crossed, where the different boundaries create rooms. It is an interior as it has the dimension of a passage for an adult, but for a child is a space, a room, an entire world. It is a space designed for children heights, that to be perceived in it totality requires to be a child. The project is made by lines with a regular structure, but that can afford infinite variations, and that can be crossed in many different ways. It is a place that foster children imagination, doesn’t dictate how to play, instead enhances children to discover all the possibilities of actions provided in it. It becomes a labyrinth, a place to hide and a place of encounters, an adventurous landscape to explore and climb. It is a place where children will experience their own growth, making manifest the fact that they are changing across the time spent in the school. It is a space that can comply with the demand of different age groups, to allow children of all ages to appropriate and find their own space. It will embrace the different emotional, social and cognitive development of different moments of growth. It is materialized with concrete, treated with different textures. It is made by surfaces that are in physical contact with children, where they will discover different textures, and materials. There will be small pieces and surprises coming out from the elements, as unexpected archeological findings. A big sensory exploratorium to be discovered over time, through the life-span children will spend in the school.

In the Groningen area cavities in the ground caused by gas extraction keep producing earthquakes for decades, and with traditional brick buildings not being built to resist earthquakes, this condition is transforming the region in a continuous working site. The province of Groningen consists of a constellation of small villages, generally characterized by relative isolation, lack of services, a decreasing population, and, above all, the common fear of the unstable ground on which they stand. Ganzedijk and Hongerige Wolf are two village where these problems are tangible. The place in between the two villages is taken as an exemplary site for a pilot project in the region, about new spaces and new meeting places both for earthquake emergency and for situations of isolation, lack of services, economic restraints. The project proposes a system of new civic forms across the territory, shelters conceived not as emergency solutions, but as new civic spaces. The earthquake is something that destroy homes, but it is, at the same time, something that creates moments of encounter, gatherings which produce a sense of community and agency across the region. The architecture proposed is a large roof that becomes a new civic space, a shelter that creates a new urbanity suggesting new forms of temporary domesticity and collectivity. It is a house, a school and a kindergarten for those affected by the earthquake, but it is also a place for events, markets, workshops, festivals, a shelter from a common fear and a platform from which to think about the future. The roof is a vast public terrace, overlooking the region, a view point to both see and be seen. It is a new form through which to read the territory, between the domestic and the civic scale. Together the roofs form an archipelago of civic microcosmos distributed across the region: they are sometimes placed at the barycentre of villages, where a sense of centrality missing, as in Ganzedijk and Hongerige Wolf; as a replacement of buildings demolished or collapsed; at the entrance of the village, as a portal; on the border of the countryside and the town, in dialogue with the form of the city and the scale of the buildings.

Amsterdam’s history, its wealth and its growth over centuries is one of exploitation and transformation of nature. The extraction of water, turf, oil, gas, and minerals, the trade of exotic spices, coffee, rare plants, and animals from the colonies, the tireless flow of goods and people; all have lead to the city’s densification and form, to its prosperity, to its fame as a liberal cultural capital. Right now the city is looking north, towards the Ij, and reimagining its form and identity in the process. Sixhaven, the geographical centre of the future city, is reimagined as a civic harbour to host a collection of familiar and estranging elements, places of pleasure that speak the language of the removed, the unknown, the desired and the forgotten, allegories to reimagine possible encounters between the north and the south, the stranger and the native, the removed and the returning, the exploited and the protected. Amsterdam Allegories is a place to observe and be observed, discover and be discovered, transform and be transformed. The harbour is to be entered only by boat. In navigation, experience overcomes speed, and as one moves on a surface rather than along a line, regulations become relative, their definition is the result of an exchange rather than a dogma. The more manoeuvrable vessel will give the way to lesser, the more experienced sailor will make way for the beginner. Far from an elitist retreat, the water of Sixhaven is a democratic surface, an arena for civic interactions where each encounter determines the rules of behaviour.

Alessandra Covini Giovanni Bellotti Filippo Garuglieri Lauren Boots Matthew Cook Sze Wing Chan Arthur Schoonenberg Noortje Weenink Kevin Westerveld

As “high pressure” is typically translated in “high density”, Amsterdam Allegories proposes to reimagine Sixhaven as an intense, rather than a dense, space. A place where to celebrate the messiness of the shore over the sanitised slickness of the waterfront, the unpredictability of the encounter over the vain statement of the icon, the possibility of the event over the rigidity of the solution, the productive vagueness of being adrift over the assertive simplification of the anchor, the humility of danger over the banality of day to day survival, the colours of heterogeneity over the greynessof neutrality. Amsterdam Allegories is a call for new, surreal, experimental public domains, where the citizen will no longer be a user, but a sailor, a farmer, a collector, a cartographer, an explorer.

Energy storage is important to reduce CO2 emissions. The value of renewable energy from wind and sun increases as we can store with little loss. The capacities of thermal (heat) or chemical (batteries, hydrogen) storage are, however, too low, the effectiveness still too small, the costs too high and applications too polluting and risky. It can be simple if you use something that never runs out or gets less: gravity. When the sun is shining and the wind is blowing, sustainable energy is abundant. Usually, less energy is required at those times. With this electricity is generated. The reservoir is a kind of mega-battery. You need height and mass. The highest structures in the flat Hollandse Delta are buildings. They have never been constructed to have much weight on the roof. Maassilo is designed for approx. 90,000 tonnes of cereals. This corresponds to the load of 90 million liters of water so there can be mass! The new volumes are not made of concrete, but steel. They work architecturally in the spirit of the building but are clearly different. By keeping them on a distance above the roof of the Maassilo the original building remains fully visible and the addition as readable as possible. A demarcation line arises between old and new. This gap becomes the most fascinating space of the concept and therefore also accessible to everyone: on the roof of the Maassilo and under the floor of the MASSSILO will be the new sky bar. Because of the difference in height, it is possible to create a pool in the floor of the bar. The bar itself has large glass sliding doors with which space can be opened around the summer. Large, industrial, figure-defining. Spatial, aesthetic and functional with great continuity, because it is about storage again.

Woolderlanen Hengelo Project of different social housing dwellings in an ex factory area in Hengelo

This social housing project is developed on a historic industrial area in Hengelo, in East Netherlands. At the moment the project started, the area was totally empty except for the old concrete skeleton of the old main factory, so the strategy for the planning was to recreate the same atmosphere in the plot, but in a way that it did not become too expensive as there was in the plan to project some expensive houses, but the majority is meant to be social houses. The main buildings are distributed around a loop and are in the majority row houses, but it could be to find double and single villas, especially at the entrances and on the corner with a shape that they can be recognized as an accent.

Graphisoft ArchiCAD QGis MAXON Cinema4D Adobe Photoshop Adobe Indesign Modelling

To recreate the industrial feeling brick and dark steel are mainly used, with a deep study of the details on the facades, on the streets and for the division walls. All these elements, of course, have been in the end chosen depending on the price to keep the houses as much affordable as possible.

concept schemes projectation 3D modelling visual

The most interesting typology for sure is the “luxury houses, obtained from the shed roof structure of the old factory. The original structure is divided into 4 dwellings with huge windows and a large usage of windows. Concrete, wood, and steel melt together to form a cozy and liveable space on two floors that turn around an inner winter garden. On the other side of the street, the other four similar houses are projected and the shape of the old factory is recreated on the facade to create unity between the two.

Rotterdam is a never stopping city and the next area to be revitalized for sure is the South. At the moment it looks like a mosaic of different styles, most of them not so nice, making it not so liveable. That is why at the moment we find a lot of projects to make it more attractive and welcoming. This project is one of them and for sure and it has the aim to be a part of the construction of the new image of the area. The plot is on Zuidplein that is going to be the heart of the renovation so the municipality and the client took a lot of attention on how we dealt with the surroundings and especially on the dimensions. The idea is to make it look like a huge simple plint that could occasionally work as an inner square for all the buildings that are on top of it. To find a way to uniform it with the actual area and the newborn buildings around it the projection started from facades study on the horizontal line, on the usage of bricks and the raster facade that is very typical in the Dutch architecture of the ‘50s and ‘60s. The kind of dwellings we find on the plint are mainly social housing, especially on Zuidplein side, but another important component is reserved to healthcare structure for elderly people. The different functions are thought to interact with each, to increase the quality of life of the inhabitants, but at the same time to keep them separate, to have their own spaces.

Design:

The concept consists of a set of completely unique stacked villa’s on top of each other. On every floor one luxurious apartment is realized. We proposed a 360 degrees open and fluent panoramic floorplan on every level. To maximize this concept we designed a structural scheme with no load bearing elements in the façade line, but only cantilevering beams and floorplates sticking out from the core. By adding a private swimming pool, a small garden and a generous terrace in different positions to the standard plan on every floor, we are able to shape all floors into unique forms, like a set of horizontal clouds. The glazed facades in between the structural horizontal plates can be fully opened, transforming the apartment into an ‘indoor-outside’ space, with direct accessibility to the private pool, garden or terrace. By stepping up and down different zones in every apartment we are able to differentiate and maximize the heights in every apartment fitting with the various spaces and functions of the apartments. As a result all apartments have at least one double height space, up to 5,2 meter net, with a split level or a mezzanine floor hanging in. Thus the interior of the apartments is dominated by its panoramic, all around space, and differentiated by its various height levels.

- Orange Architects team Patrick Meijers Jeroen Schippers Elena Staskute Filippo Garuglieri Athanasia Kalaitzidou Visuals:

In the materialization of the building we aim on blending in with the ‘beach culture’ of Limassol. The white curved façades create an optimistic, gentle, sophisticated, light and natural appearance that clearly shows the unique plasticity of the different sky villas. Windows are fully glazed and fully openable as curtain walls, sliding to the sides for optimal summer feeling.

- A2Studio Developer: - The Land - Masharii SAL

In Terra I worked on the definitive design phase of the project. My task was to work on the shapes of apartments to ensure a optimal balance between maximizing the square meters and the design, and on the ground floor shaping plus finalizing several minor design details.

Noorderkaap Project of two residential buildings on the north side of Amsterdam

Status :

Task :

Author :

The Noorderkaap project consists of 2 luxurious apartment buildings on the North shore line of the IJ in Amsterdam, on one on the most prominent locations of the new Buiksloterham development. The design wants to pay tribute to both the industrial past of the area, as to new opportunities that come with the explicit beacon position of the towers, within the future development of the area. The architectural concept for both buildings consists of an open and rational concrete structure in the lower levels of the tower, topped with an extravagant and sculptural ‘hat’ of corten steel. By this we are able to emphasize both the quality of living in the lower levels of the building, as on the higher floors. On all levels there will be one or two apartments per floor maximum. In the lower part of the building the apartments are set up horizontally, as panoramic free plan types, with full and unrestricted view on the water and the center of Amsterdam in front. In the higher part of the tower the apartments have double high bay windows, emphasizing the vertical quality of the apartments, generating unrestricted views on the Dutch skies. By this we are able to offer unique apartments on every floor, instead of a concept with lesser valued apartments in the plinth of the building and higher priced penthouses on top.

Design: - Orange Architects team Patrick Meijers Jeroen Schippers Elena Staskute Casper van Leeuwen Filippo Garuglieri Visuals:

I joined the team for the TO phase and my task was to work on interior design and detailing of the entrances and common spaces of both buildings. We worked with different materials and products choices and I went through the final design and drawing of the various elements that compose the project.

Orange Architects won the tender for Plot 42A, located in the heart of the harbour on IJburg in Amsterdam. With this winning scheme, called ‘Jonas’, the city has chosen a highly innovative residential building with a spectacular interior that has achieved the highest possible sustainability label (Breeam Outstanding). The design for the 29,000-m2 mixed-use programme was commissioned by Amvest and developed in collaboration with Site urban development, ABT, Felixx landscape architects and Floor Ziegler. The name Jonas is a reference to the legend “Jonas and the Whale”, a tale about adventure and intimacy, and about shelter, security and homeliness inside a “big body”. Jonas is a sturdy building with a warm heart. It is also an iconic, sustainable and attractive structure that stands out from the surrounding buildings – even by virtue of its special siting on the strip of land and the remarkable programme it contains. The building shapes themes that matter here: water, quayside and maritime craft. At the same time, by embracing the ‘soul of the site’ and rendering it visible, Jonas looks like it belongs here.

Design: - Orange Architects team Patrick Meijers Jeroen Schippers Paul Kierkels Elena Staskute Eric Eisma Filippo Garuglieri Ivan Shkurko Casper van Leeuwen

But the real surprise with Jonas is revealed inside. It is welcoming, warm and spectacular. It expresses a modern and sustainable community life. The interior is compelling, surprising and surrealist. The underlying spatial concept is based on traditional timber ship construction. A series of trusses arranged in a row forms the skeleton, the building’s main structure. This allows big hollows to be scooped out of the volume, with the required housing programme incorporated into the ‘skin’ of the building.

Structure: - ABT

When joining Orange the project already was in TO phase and my task was to design the lamellas of the inside “canyon”, the way they should connect between each other, to slabs and to the lower part of the window-“beach”. After defined the shape of the lamellas I took care of the “mountain path” lamellas and of the shape of the beach, taking in consideration both structure and landscapers designs.

Presentation letter for Filippo Garuglieri I know Filippo Garuglieri since three years, since he attended my Architecture Projectation class V at DIDA(Architecture Department), at Universtiy of the Studies of Florence where I gladly teach since more than forty years. Filippo Garuglieri discuss his final thesis with me as Relator. The thesis, titled “Rediscovered Bussola, treating the projectation of a concerts arena with polyfunctionalpark in the historical site of Bussoladomani nightclub, along Lido di Camaiore seashore. The thesis included a research on Versilia, examinates the municipality project and presented analternative Masterplan. The drawings communicated his ideas using a very particular grapich and appropriate for the argument. Filippo Garuglieri was a good student, he showed remarkable qualities, the ability of cooperate with others, a great intellectual curiosity and a true passion for architecture. I hope that he will be able to have a working occasion to learn the art and the work of the architect. Prof. Arch. Adolfo Natalini Architectural and Urban Projectation professor

Project 180000 Onderwerp Reference Letter Behandeld door Daniel Rucki

To whom this may concern,

Filippo Garuglieri worked for KAW architecten in Rotterdam on the position of trainee in the period from March until October 2018. He worked on different types of projects varying from social housing, schools to urban design on the larger scale. He was mostly involved in competitions (which among of the them few were winning) as well as first phases of the projects . Filippo has very good knowledge of historical and modern architecture. This knowledge he can very easily use for different type of analyses supported with appropriate examples. He has also good design and 3D modelling skills which makes him a valuable addition to the team. He is a quick learner and very well motivated worker. Working with Filippo brought a lot of enthusiasm into our work. I would recommend him as a person for a position in your organisation. If you would like more information or regarding his work in our office, do not hesitate to contact me directly. Kind regards,

Daniel Rucki, Architect, Team Leader Research and Development KAW Rotterdam
