When the son wasn’t ready to perform the last rites of his mother and brothers were shying away from cremating their own brothers, who was compassionate enough to not only reach these homes to pick up the dead but also cremate them? When stray dogs were mutilating corpses, relatives were disposing off the bodies in river Ganges or throwing them surreptitiously into rivers from bridges, who were these people risking their own lives to perform the last rites of these abandoned bodies? An authentic and real document of such people, the corpse bearers, who at a time of crisis kept the flame of humanity burning. They became the guiding light, upholding human virtues when humanity and human emotions were being torn asunder.
