Shah Rukh Khan is clearly in his action hero era. After Pathaan, the actor will take us on another action-filled ride in Jawan. With Atlee at the helm, the film will reportedly see not one but two sides of SRK. Yes, the actor is playing a double role. If the film’s teaser which features a bloodied and beat-up SRK is any indication, fans can expect an intense narrative. While that’s enough to fill theatres, the film doubles up on the star power with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. Need we say more?

Bawaal

Cast: Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Parth Siddhpura

The year’s movie line-up is stacked with fresh pairings and Bawaal is one of them. The comedy film will see Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor share screen space for the very first time. While the film’s plot has been kept tightly under wraps, we do know that it’s a love story revolving around characters from a small town. Moreover, the film was shot in Poland, the Netherlands, and even Lucknow over the past year. That should give you a sense of its sprawling scale. Both Janhvi and Varun were in films that made waves last year - Mili and Bhediya. That’s always a good sign.

Tehran

After the rousing success of Pathaan, John Abraham’s next entry on the slate of films arriving in 2023 is Tehran. The geopolitical thriller is inspired by the true events that took place during the Russia-Ukraine war. While the film was initially expected to arrive on Republic Day, a day after Pathaan, the date has since been pushed. Looks like John’s double feature will have to wait.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani

Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are perhaps two of Bollywood’s finest actors. We’ve seen what they can do together on screen in Gully Boy and we get to witness it again in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The upcoming film is Karan Johar’s next after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which was released seven years ago. His comeback directorial is yet another starstudded entertainer. The film’s production faced a few delays amidst the pandemic but it will finally hit screens this year.

The next few months bring in a slew of hotly anticipated movies led by some of the biggest stars in the Hindi film industry. For starters, Pathaan isn’t the only Shah Rukh Khan-led title from the year. The star will also appear in Atlee’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki This is also the year of exciting onscreen pairings. Suhana Khan, Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda. It also features Vedang Raina, Dot, Mihir Ahuha, Yuvraj Menda and more. The poster and teaser promise a period drama drenched in the aesthetics of India of the 1960s. Colour us intrigued!

Its plot reportedly revolves around a man whose siblings are trying to get him married. From everything we know so far, the film is as meta as its title. It also comes with a stacked cast that includes familiar faces and newcomers.
