Hi all!

Blaine is a typical young gay man looking for love...without much success. Enter Xander, the man of his dreams. After meeting in an online chat room, they quickly fall for each other and start a virtual relationship. Before long, they decide to meet face-to-face for a coffee date. But in Blaine’s world, nothing comes easy. He discovers he’s been chatting with his new online boyfriend under his roommate Cameron’s profile. The problem is, Cameron is a sexy gogo dancer - and that’s the guy Xander is expecting to see. Blaine persuades his roommate to pose as him during the date until he can win over Xander with his wit and charm. It’s Blaine’s brain versus Cameron’s brawn as love blossoms within this threesome. Featured at the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival May 27-30.

By Arlei Patterson and Vertov Industries, an ArleiStyle creation. Check Rainbow Film Festival schedule for screening time. THE WINNER OF THIS YEAR’S PRIDE LOGO CONTEST 2010 IS MANDY H. NAMOHALA.

Win a title, wear a sash, help your community, be proud, DO IT! DC COMICS FEATURES GAY SUPERHERO Batwoman, the crime-fighting lesbian avenger, is getting her own comic book title. The move by DC Comics will make her the first ongoing series headlined by an LGBT character. The series, which begins in July, will feature wealthy socialite Kate Kane as the alter ego of Batwoman. Jeff Ayers, manager of Forbidden Planet, a New York City comic book store, told The Daily News that Batwoman has “her own cult following.” “Usually when a publisher has tried gimmicks like that over the years, they beat it to death,” said Ayers. “But it just lingers in the background with her. They treat her like a normal person – which is a fantastic thing.”

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT TO BROADWAY The tale of two ABBA-loving Aussie drag queens and their curmudgeonly transgender pal who take their show on the road through the Australian outback is headed to North America. Adapted from the Oscar-winning 1994 film, Priscilla Queen of The Desert, The Musical is set to open on Broadway March 6, 2011. The West End cast currently includes Oliver Thornton, Jason Donovan, and Don Gallagher, but it isn’t known whether those actors will repeat their roles in the Broadway production. For more information, visit PriscillaTheMusical.com. OBAMA EXTENDS VISITATION RIGHTS TO LGBT PARTNERS President Barack Obama is ordering that nearly all hospitals allow patients to say who has visitation rights and who can help make medical decisions, including gay and lesbian partners. The White House released a statement by Obama instructing his Health and Human Services secretary to draft rules requiring hospitals that receive Medicare and Medicaid payments to grant all patients the right to designate people who can visit and consult with them at crucial moments. The designated visitors should have the same rights that immediate family members now enjoy, Obama’s instructions said. It said Medicare-Medicaid hospitals, which include most of the nation’s facilities, may not deny visitation and consultation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. “ I w ant to be on t he c o ve r o f ... O d ys s ey Magazin e !” God knows if I had a dime for every time I heard that I’d be up to my nipples in semiprecious metals. Yes, throughout the year my photographer, David, and myself are virtually inundated with starry-eyed hopefuls practically begging us to be on the cover of Odyssey Magazine. Well now’s your chance to work that body, fierce that fashion, or just strike a pose in our 6th Annual Odyssey Cover Model Search. Yes, it’s time to shut up, step up and stop complaining about all the other “lame models” who have graced our Odyssey covers, and get your ass in our contest. Hey, you may not win but that won’t stop us from putting you on a future cover. You just have to have that certain “something” that makes you stick-out (not literally silly) from the rest. Winners will be judged by a panel of experts in the cover model world and be monetarily compensated for their efforts. So send us some pics, a bio, and a contact number and we promise to make you the star you think you are!

Travel Fitness

I

t’s easy to let a vacation or business trip destroy your fitness schedule and eating habits, but why let something as rewarding as a vacation or as exciting as a business trip leave you feeling unhealthy upon return. The whole purpose of a vacation is to relax and take care of you. With a little research and proper planning, you can create an easy to follow plan to keep you fit and healthy no matter where you travel, and you can return home feeling more healthy and energized than when you left. There is no excuse for not finding places to exercise when every city has a great staircase, stadium, or tall buildings where you can master the stairs without a machine. If stairs aren’t your thing, cities have lots of great places for walking, running, or even hiking. Ask the Hotel concierge if there are parks or trials close by. Ask for a map of the city and find out how many of your destinations are reachable by foot. (Walking will increase your fitness level and decrease your taxi fares). Prior to your departure, find out if your hotel has a workout facility and a pool, and remember to pack your bathing suit and at least one workout outfit. Forgetting these items is a great excuse to not work out.

PAGE 24

If your hotel does not offer fitness accommodations, bring along a jump rope and an exercise tube. They are both lightweight and easy to transport. Jumping rope is one of the best forms of cardiovascular exercise, and you can do it anywhere. With the exercise tube, and a pre-arranged plan to keep you motivated, you can keep your entire body toned and energized without even entering a

gym. Numerous magazines and web sites offer workout instructions for each body part. And, of course, body weight exercises such as push-ups and crunches require no equipment at all. The point is to find a workout routine that suits your needs and follow it. Remember all the time and energy you put into your exercise is for you. My number one nutritional tips while traveling is to always drink plenty of water, especially when flying. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times. Pick up portable healthy snacks (fruit, granola bars, nuts, fig bars) at local markets so you wont be caught hungry in front of the mini bar or at the airport where prices are sky high. Try to eat at least three times per day to keep you from feeling famished and overindulging at any one time. By all means go ahead and splurge on regional dished and local cuisine, but balance your diet by choosing lower calorie foods at other meals.

Transformational Massage and Body Work

Whether your trip is for business or pleasure, remember that you should take some time out for yourself everyday. Why not dedicate that time to improving your health and making yourself feel better.

A bouncy, energetic, earlyfortyish, native New Yorker with four mighty passions in life: boys, baseball, Barbra and Baskin-Robbins. He’s a sensitive and compassionate guy, with a great big heart and a strong sense of humanity.

PAGE 30

Born Delroy Monroe (but don’t dare call him that!) the flamboyant Soiree is totally self-absorbed and almost always “on.” He sashays through life with a feline grace; to him, the whole world is a high-fashion runway.

A sensitive, idealistic 22 yearold artist, trapped in the body of a god. He is totally oblivious to the jaw-dropping effect he has on almost everyone - and unaware of why both men and women pay him so much attention. Nathan’s faithful pooch. A perky, ever=present, silent observer of everything that goes down in the apartment and the neighborhood. Her great irony: she knows and see it all, but can’t say a thing about it.
