“It's okay to need help. And as a community it's our responsibility to get our youth the help and resources they need. ”
NOVEMBER 2023
Welcome to the second Art Works™ Mental Health Summit! We have been looking forward to this day for quite some time now. I've been wanting to do something like this for our young people after realizing earlier this year how much mental health is being neglected in a lot of our youth. And there are so many different contributing factors. We are excited about this summit! Our young people need to know that we love them, and that their lives and mental health matter. Our community has really come together to offer support by rallying around our young people through this event to create awareness and begin to break the stigma around mental health.
Our young people are dealing with so much and many of them are hurting. We have to show them that it's okay to need help. And as a community, it's our responsibility to get our youth the help and resources they need. As an organization with a community focus, we are doing our part to offer hope to the youth and families that come through our door. It is my hope that this event will set the tone for many community resources to help sow seeds of hope into our youth and community.

Art Works™ Breakout Sessions PAINT AS THERAPY Goal: Verbalizing emotions, unleashing creativity Youth shared their feelings and impression of the word “baggage” using tempura paint on elevated easels and then spoke about what they created to their group and shared where they felt comformtable.
MUSIC AS THERAPY Goal: Youth connect how sounds and songs can affect their mood, and select songs that communicate how they are feeling at a given moment.
