LLANDEILO LODGE

ACCOMMODATION

Uniquely charming, Llandeilo Lodge is a superb, three bedroom detached home, steeped in history with the most beautiful gardens set within an acre and a quarter of land, with a fantastic one bed annexe.

It is clear to see the current owners have taken time and thought to modernise the house, whilst retaining its period charm, with its picturesque windows, cosy log burning fires in the large reception rooms and exposed Welsh stone walls it’s sure to pull at the heart strings. The new kitchen is a great addition to the property and will be much appreciated by any keen chef with a great entertaining island with doors leading outside onto your garden patio.

SELLER INSIGHT

It was the rural setting of Llandeilo Lodge which first attracted us to the property,” say the current owners. “There is a wonderful feeling of remoteness but we are still within 15 minutes of the M4 and local amenities at Llandeilo and Carmarthen. The clean air and dark skies at night are a real luxury, and as we are surrounded by fields, we feel totally immersed in country life.”

“The history of the Lodge was a real draw, too,” the owners continue. “The Lodge is one of the original lodges of Pant Glas Mansion and was the main receiving lodge for visitors to the Mansion. Historians say that the Duke of Wellington used the drive up to the main house and would have arrived and been looked after in this Lodge! When we arrived at the property just under 5 years ago, it had been empty for some time, so we set about modernising the house whilst retaining its period charm, most notably with a stunning new kitchen. In addition, the cottage set in the grounds was converted from scratch with new electrics, fitted kitchen, bathroom and decoration and gas supply. It was a derelict outbuilding and is now a delightful one bedroom cottage for guests. Indeed, this is the ideal property for entertaining and hosting, with many large family parties and summer barbecues for family and friends from far and wide having taken place here. The Lodge is very special at Christmas, and provides a picture book feeling in the winter months. Many friends have stayed en route to West Wales as a break on their journey in the summer holidays, too.”

Outside, the garden has been transformed from what was a wilderness when the owners arrived, into a spacious and attractive set of spaces. “There are extensive ornamental gardens set on 1.25 acres,” the owners say, “with a collection of lawns, shrubs and flowers and trees throughout. Alongside these are a large wooded area and a market garden style area including fruit trees, greenhouses, vegetable beds and a large polytunnel, which provide us with a bounty of fresh produce. This is a truly stunning garden.”

The local area has much to recommend it, too. “We love the respite of coming home from busy lives to a tranquil and beautiful environment,” the owners say, “yet also being part of a vibrant local community. In the village itself, there is a primary school, church, pub, community shop and Reading Room (village hall). The property is 10 minutes from Llandeilo, which is a lovely market town with all the associated amenities. We are 15 minutes from Carmarthen, the county town of Carmarthenshire, which has all you would expect including a local hospital which serves the surrounding area. The property is 40 minutes from Swansea City and the Gower Peninsular, for city life and stunning nature, respectively, with small local beaches within 20 minutes of the house, too.”*

Outside is stunning; There are so many places to sit with a drink, read a book or just enjoy the vast array of colourful blooms. For garden lovers there are vegetable patches, greenhouses, pergolas and a large polytunnel and an orchard with fruit trees. There is a large workshop at the rear of the property. The garden contains a collection of outbuildings including sheds, summer house and single vehicle secure garage.

Llandeilo Lodge has a feel as though you are in the remote countryside but being only 15 minutes away from the M4 with easy access to Cardiff and Swansea. The boutique village of Llandeilo is only 7 miles away with beautiful local shops, bars and restaurants and the market town of Carmarthen only 12 miles away with your larger supermarkets, cinema, schools, university, hospital and high street shops as well as lovely local shops too. In the village itself, Dryslwyn, there is a primary school, church, pub, community shop and Reading Room (village hall). The coast is within easy reach being just 20 minutes from the house.

The perfect property for countryside living with the convenience of amenities close by. Llandeilo Lodge, uniquely charming.
