A Treerific Escape
Every story has a beginning, and Andy and Simon Payne’s started in Kenya, East Africa. They had the kind of childhood that truly embraced the beauty of the great, wild outdoors
In 2003, after graduating with a degree in Business and Design, Andy, along with his brother Simon were asked to design and build a walkway suspended high above the Mida Creek mangroves in Kenya. Once Andy started showing photos of their work to his UK friends, he saw the excitement that it inspired and so Blue Forest was born.
As far as we’re concerned, treehouses are not just for children. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you do for a living; everyone needs to have a bit of excitement in their lives and a breathtakingly beautiful hideout up in the trees, or nestled within the woods, will bring a smile to your face, every time. They believe in bringing their clients closer to the natural world, creating amazing structures that the clients adore from the moment they reveal the designs. What’s more, they absolutely love doing it. Blue Forest is an award-winning company renowned for pushing the boundaries of design and bringing a touch of magic to their creations. The skilled team of architectural designers, interior designers and project managers will work with you to create a treehouse that is completely personal to you. They provide you with a coherent and complete design, construction and management service that allows them to mastermind your project from conception to completion. Whatever your dreams, they can turn them into a reality. The aim is to reconnect people with the great outdoors enabling them to create their own extraordinary memories and adventures. Blue Forest are known for designing buildings that reflect their natural settings, nestled amongst the branches or tucked away in the woods.
They care for the environment and want to do their best to ensure that the natural world is protected and can be enjoyed for generations to come. They promote sustainable principles and ethics throughout every stage of the design and build process, so you can rest assured that your new treehouse is as eco-friendly as possible. Where possible, the timber is PEFC or FSC certified and sourced from sustainably managed forests where there is an active strategy of replanting and habitat regeneration. For many people owning an incredible hideaway up in the trees is something they only got to dream about as children. But there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from having your own magical treehouse in your garden, and Blue Forest can make it as amazing and awe-inspiring as you want it to be. And for those who do not have any trees, or prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground, they also design amazing ground based structures perfect for home offices, yoga studios, creative hubs and even hobbit holes! Not all their designs need to be lofty abodes, and they have recently designed a Down to Earth Collection of ground based structures that would fit in perfectly within any garden setting. This collection is designed to offer an alternative solution to the standard home office – why should working from home be boring? The ground based structures eliminate the need for planning permission, making them an attractive alternative while still keeping all the charm and character of one of their treehouses. They always say ‘if you can imagine it, we can build it’. The highly skilled team of specialist designers will take time to understand what you want and will work with you to design a bespoke treehouse or home office that’s perfect for you. They will use their expertise to suggest additional elements and features that you might not have thought of. They’re a creative bunch and love nothing better than to push the limits of design. Have you always wanted a secret room hidden behind a bookcase door? No problem. What about a secret escape tunnel leading out of the room? Great. You’d love a family living space up in the trees? Excellent, or how about a hobbit hole with it’s own wood burning stove and outdoor firepit, the perfect escape for any Bilbo Baggins fan. The team believe in making your dream a reality but as treehouse experts, they know that it’s also their job to show you what else is possible. Blue Forest also offers a unique interior design service. In the world of treehouses and hobbit holes, the little personal touches are just as important as the bigger things. From hand-crafted swing seats to personalised fairy doors and home cinema screens, they add a personal touch to every project. So, sit back and let your imagination run wild – and they’ll take care of the rest.
