SELLER INSIGHT

It was the charming village setting which first drew us to the property,” say the current owners of The Courtyard. “We bought into appeal of village life in South Kilworth, with its picturesque church, friendly atmosphere, and excellent local school. With less than 70 properties locally, the village has a close-knit, welcoming community, with supportive neighbourhood watch schemes and social initiatives such as the regular safari supper from the village hall. Indeed, this has proven to be a wonderful place to raise our family, and we have made lifelong friends here.”

“Since purchasing the property, we have transformed it from a small bungalow into the spacious family hub it is today,” the owners continue. “When designing our dream house, it was important to us that all our family and friends could gather and spend time together here. The openness and flexibility of the house achieves this effortlessly: our parents can come and stay in the annex at weekends; evenings are filled with relaxed social events in the bar; and Christmas Day often sees a couple of dozen people sitting down for a festive meal together in the formal dining room. Our children and their friends have very much enjoyed having a private cinema, too, with a proper screen, tiered reclining seats, and even a sweet shop!”

Outside, the gardens serve as an extension of the indoor living and entertaining spaces. “As well as having plenty of space to socialise indoors, we have equally generous dining capabilities in the dedicated al fresco entertaining area,” say the owners. “The garden was just a slope when we bought the property, but with thoughtful landscaping we have tiered the space into three distinct but connected areas: a barbecue area; a grassy meadow-like space; and a children’s play area with trampoline and table tennis. More often than not, summer parties conclude with everyone sitting around the sunken firepit enjoying one last drink before the sun goes down. Though we are less than an hour from London by train from nearby Market Harborough, it truly feels like our own private oasis here.”*
