Seller Insight

We have actually lived in the house for the past nine years doing it up as we went along as we wanted to make sure everything was ‘just right’ with high end fixtures and fittings. It sits in the midst of our family farm and we are now taking over the running of the farm and will be moving into the original farmhouse and hope that new owners will enjoy everything we have done here. We love the fact that, although we are out in the country, there is easy access to Carisbrooke, Newport and the hospital with a bus stop near the end of the drive.

Newport is a delightful place and is in the centre of the island so it is easy to get to everywhere. It is the county town of the Isle of Wight and includes a variety of high street stores and independent shops as well as wide selection of restaurants and bars. There is a weekly street market and a farmers’ market and a number of primary and secondary schools within the vicinity. It is not far from the Shide Nature Reserve and the walks or cycle rides along the River Medina are a real pleasure, while the Newport Golf Club is available for golfing enthusiasts.

There are plenty of local attractions including a museum, a roman villa and the quay arts centre as well as the famous Carisbrook Castle and Monkey Haven. A variety of annual events take place in the area including the world-famous Isle of Wight festival and the boutique Eclectica festival at Robin Hill.*

Step inside Green Park Farmhouse

If you want to live in a contemporary, newly constructed farmhouse in generous grounds and enjoy the rural idyll with stunning views, yet only be a couple of miles from the centre of Newport, this unique family home should be top of your list. Although the original footings for the property were put in during 2006 it has been a labour of love for the family over the past 16 years to complete this amazing building project.

The house is approached via a shared drive which leads to a private gate and thence to the property’s own drive, so it is well away from the main road providing peace and quiet as well as security and privacy. There is hard standing for a number of cars and a charming oak framed porch with a pitched roof and access to the oak front door. This opens into a spacious hall with an oak staircase and doors to the main rooms on the ground floor.

These include the magnificent, triple aspect kitchen/dining room and is where the family is likely to spend much of their time as it is large enough to include a seating area. The kitchen has attractive stone tiles on the floor, a central island with an induction hob and a raft of lovely wood units housing a double oven, an integrated dishwasher and fridge freezer while in the dining room there are French doors to the garden and double doors to the lounge. This delightful double aspect room has an impressive inglenook style brick fireplace with a large log burner and a Bressumer beam.

For anyone with elderly relatives or guests who find the stairs difficult, there is a large double bedroom on the ground floor. It has direct access to the fitted utility room and boot room that leads to a shower room that is in an ideal location if you want to clean up after a walk with the dogs. However, the bedroom would also make an excellent office for anyone working from home.

Off the galleried landing on the first floor you will find three double bedrooms with delightful views including a guest room with an en suite bathroom and the magnificent main bedroom. This is the ‘piece de resistance’ with an amazing handmade oak multi-framed window that stretches to the height of the vaulted ceiling and the width of the room so you can sit up in bed and admire the views as far as Newtown Creek. As if that was not enough there are also French doors to a large roof terrace with a glass and steel balustrade as well as a spacious dressing room that could always be a nursery or extra bedroom and a contemporary Jack and Jill bathroom with access to the third bedroom.

The property is surrounded by lawn and a patio for al fresco dining and where you can enjoy the evening sunshine. However, most of the garden area is a blank canvas just waiting for another family to create their own special outdoor space.
