The Dairy 1 Grange Court | Horton | Northampton | Northamptonshire | NN7 2QU

1 GRANGE COURT

The Dairy is a beautiful, Grade II listed, stone built, barn conversion situated in a courtyard of five luxury homes, all of which are former farm buildings, in the heart of sought after Horton.

KEY FEATURES

The property was converted by Clayson Homes in 1997 and has been meticulously maintained; it has a traditional feel with period features such as exposed stone and beams.

The front door opens to a bright entrance hallway with guest cloakroom. On the right is a spacious reception room with an exposed stone inglenook at one end and French doors opening to the garden. Further along the hallway is a separate study, again overlooking the rear garden, and a bright dining room with exposed beam and French doors opening to the rear garden. The heart of this lovely home is the country style kitchen/breakfast room which has so much character, integrated appliances, French doors to the rear garden and a separate utility room.

SELLER INSIGHT

1 Grange Court is a characterful stone built barn conversion and Jane, the present owner, describes how the barn’s charming kerbside appeal, with its attractive limestone brick and imposing red tiled roof made an immediate impression. Combined with the light filled spacious interior and a pleasing location on the edge of the village, she knew she had found an attractive and peaceful home. She has loved her twenty years in the house.

Starting life in the seventeenth century the barn was part of a working farm until the mid twentieth century and its name, The Dairy is a clue to its part in the farm life. It was the show house of a small development of five buildings and Jane is only the second owner. The barn was in good order when she bought it but after ten years in the property, she refurbished the bathrooms and upgraded and modernised the kitchen.

The Dairy is an easy house to live in and Jane explains the whole house gives continual pleasure but perhaps the lounge and master bedroom with their double aspect windows are especially lovely to spend time in. It is also quite a wow factor to see the structure of the house built as an A frame and some beams have been aesthetically left in their natural colour.

The kitchen is the hub of the home, where the range cooker and generous work surfaces are ideal for the keen cook. It is also where there have been many happy chatty kitchen meals. The kitchen, diner and lounge open onto the garden, forming a super entertaining zone. The Diary is at its best when full of people.

The garden is seasonal and offers a colourful mix of a typical English cottage garden planting, and the spring flowers, clematis, roses, and lavender all play their part in creating an oasis of great calm. Horton village is a friendly community with clubs and activities based round the village hall; and conveniently located to nearby Northampton and Milton Keynes. With easy access to train stations and Motorway links, it is a perfect commuter base. Janes says she feels the combination of local woodland, village life, country walks, and daily journey into London have given her the best of town and country living.

Leaving The Dairy is going to be hard and if she could pick it up and take it with her she would but Jane takes a way many very happy memories.*
