SELLER INSIGHT
Situated along a quiet and charming tree lined road in Southampton, number sixty five Glen Eyre Road is a spacious family home with a third of an acre garden. The present owner, Louise explains that it is her family home and that just over sixty years ago her parents bought it when they needed extra room for an elderly relative.
When the family purchased the post war house, they decided it needed windows which would allow them to appreciate views to the garden, that was one of the properties most stunning features. They installed huge windows to the dining room and kitchen with the garden as a background, and flooded the rooms with natural light, creating a warm ambience.
Louise says the family appreciated the space in the massive lounge. She recalls sitting listening to her father playing the baby grand piano and, in the summer, opening the sliding doors to the patio where they would sit and savour the view across the garden.
There is an easy flow of ground floor rooms and up to twenty family would sit down to Christmas lunch and thirty or more guests would gather for parties in the lounge. It was an hospitable and happy house.
The garden is a mix of lawn, seasonal colour, a vegetable plot and, at the end, a twenty foot, enchanting, wooded area. The front garden is well shielded from the road and has a generous parking area.
Southampton is a vibrant town with excellent schools, retail, and work opportunities, and Portswood suburb is within walking distance with a choice of restaurants and shops. And for leisure time there is easy access to the coast, the Isle of Wight and the New Forest is a beautiful area for endless walks.
Louse says it will be sad to say goodbye to what has been a wonderful family home but is certain the next owners will love it in the same way.”
