Seller Insight

We were already living in the village when Woodside became available to us, and knowing the area so well, we went ahead and bought it Pear Tree Lane has always been a well sought after road and recently, there has been quite a lot of investment with renovations and grand new builds. With the house being on one of the widest plots and circa 1.8 acres, we saw it as an uncut diamond with potential since it is one of the few houses in the lane that hasn’t had any extensions added since the original build.

We soon set about refurbishing the house with new plumbing, electrics, plastering and kitchen while adding wood burners to the snug room and the lounge, both of which are supplied by wood from fallen trees from our own woodland. The house has character, which we both fell for, and the original leaded windows, including the stained glass windows either side of the front door, adds so much more. We absolutely love the woods, and have created pathways where we walk each day with the dog. The past owners had coppiced in order to make the most of the far-reaching views of the River Thames and beyond, as can been seen by some of the neighbouring properties. We enjoy nothing more, than sitting in one of the garden areas, on a summers evening, listening to and watching the wildlife. We have even had a dear come to visit! Rare but true. We believe that it was from the Lord Darnley Estate where Rochester and Cobham golf club is, a British open qualifying course which is around a mile from here as the crow flies.

With easy access to both the towns and the countryside, for us the property’s location is perfect.”*
