As we start to shift from summer to fall, real estate gears up for stronger staging statements to reflect the seasons. Two great trends that are shoe-in style updates to transition your home into the next season are textured neutrals and bold geometrics.

TEXTURED NEUTRALS HOUZZ defines it as “The New Neutrals” but the idea is to simply take your tonal shades up a notch by layering in TEXTURE! As we see wallpaper making a comeback

in home décor, try using a linen version of your favorite neutral tone. Don’t want to commit to

something permanent, try adding texture in pillows and throws or woods and leathers. At 640 Newton Place NW, we used soft velvet sofas with textured furry pillows in the same shades of brown. We added different woods of the same hue and brought it all together with a bold piece of art. For 4121 9th St. NW, we shifted summer whites and grays to fall by adding various depths using furs and blankets, leather bar stools and a heavy shag rug to transition from summer’s natural aesthetic to a heavier winter palette that will last through the holidays. For traditional homes and clients, it’s easy to make any “neutral” next level with texture!
