Welcome Thank you for your interest in hiring CYC Burleigh Heads. The information in this booklet is provided to enable you to make the best use of our facilities. Please ensure that your personnel are familiar with all details. Christian Youth Camps (CYC) Burleigh Heads is a practical mission arm of the Christian Community Churches of Australia and has been operating in Queensland since 1945. There are CYC camping sites throughout Australia. Together with providing a camp facility for groups in general: schools, churches and organisations, CYC conducts holiday camps for primary and secondary school children, young adult and adult camps, over fifties retreats and other specialty camps. Our staff are committed to providing a camping experience within the unique location of Queensland’s Gold Coast. Whether your aim is recreation, education or relaxation, we trust your stay with us will be an enjoyable and rewarding one. In providing this facility we aim to display and encourage a positive and wholesome lifestyle based on Christian principles. Location CYC Burleigh is located on the Burleigh headland overlooking the Gold Coast, and is bordered on two sides by national park. Flora and fauna abound in the area and the paths through the national park provide excellent views north and south of Burleigh Heads. The patrolled surf beach at Burleigh and calm swimming at Tallebudgera Creek are only a short walk away. Facilities We welcome your inspection of the campsite. Please contact the campsite office to arrange a suitable time. Our campsite provides the following: Dormitory-style cabins with mainly bunks and some beds. Generally campers are required to supply a pillow and all linen. However, linen can be supplied with prior arrangement. Cabins 1-6 have four bunk beds each (8 beds total), with a common toilet and shower block. Cabins 7-8 have four bunk beds each (8 beds total, with an ensuite. Bookings Tentative Bookings On initial contact, if a suitable booking period is available, a tentative booking is made. This tentative booking is held for fourteen days only. Bookings Confirmation If you wish to confirm your booking you should return the ‘Booking Application’ form together with a deposit before the end of this fourteen-day period. Any tentative bookings which have not been confirmed at the end of fourteen days will be deemed to have lapsed and will be made available for new lettings. The Occupant Details form is to be returned with your program at least 14 days prior to the commencement of your camp. The final number of campers stated on the Occupant Details form will be the number used for invoicing purposes. Numbers of participants indicated for activities at this point will be considered final and will be used to book the necessary instructors Cancellations In the event of a cancellation more than 90 days before the commencement of the camp the deposit will be refunded less a cancellation fee of $50.00. If notice of cancellation is between 90 days and 45 days from the proposed beginning of your camp the deposit is nonrefundable. If the cancellation is within 45 days of the beginning of your camp, the hirer is liable for the total camp fee. In the event of a cancellation by CYC, the campsite shall endeavour to obtain, for the hirer, a campsite of equivalent standard; the hirer shall be entitled to a full refund of all monies paid. Account Statement An account statement will be issued to you at the completion of you stay. Please settle this within seven (7) days. Breakages and Losses Together with additional costs, breakages and losses will be charged to your account statement.
Transport CYC Burleigh Heads partners with a number of bus companies in order to get the lowest transport costs possible. Please advise CYC staff if you would like us to arrange your transport needs.

Catering Our qualified catering team is pleased to provide for you a menu that will satisfy the hungry tummies of your staff and students. Meals include cereals, a variety of breads, fruits, salads, vegetables, chicken, beef, fish and pastas just to name a few. Special dietary requirements are also catered for with prior notice. To assist with the flow of each meal, a duty group is required 15 minutes prior and after each meal to set tables, clear and wipe tables, leave chairs neat and tidy and sweep the floor. CYC Burleigh is a fully catered campsite. No self-catering is available. Meal times are generally set, however, with prior consultation, can be adjusted to suit your program requirements. Notes about Catering
• Management should be notified before the camp regarding special dietary needs • Upon arrival at camp, a teacher should discuss the dietary requirements and procedure with the catering staff • Birthday cakes can be prepared for supper with prior notice (this should be arranged prior to arrival at camp) • Morning, afternoon tea and supper is provided (included in the cost) • Tea, coffee and cappuccino machine is available 24hrs • A fruit basket is available at all times in the dining room • Crockery and cutlery are provided

Activities Canoeing This activity is ideally suited to groups of 25 people and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Topics covered include safety and equipment, tide and water conditions, basic canoeing skills and canoeing games. Participants will require wet boots or old shoes, hat, shirt (preferably long sleeve) and sunscreen. This activity will be facilitated by an accredited instructor and is offered subject to weather conditions. ½ Day/Full Day Canoe Adventure This activity builds on the skills leant during the canoeing activity. Participants are led on a canoe adventure stopping for morning/afternoon tea and lunch. Snorkeling This activity is suitable for groups of 25 people. Participants will learn basic snorkeling skills along with related topics including safety and equipment and tide and water. Leaders should allow 2 hours to complete the activity and ensure that participants bring a t-shirt or wet shirt and sunscreen. An accredited instructor will facilitate the session, which will be subject to good weather and tidal conditions. Surfing Suitable for groups of up to 25 people and lasting approximately 2 hours, participants will develop skills in surf safety, reading currents, paddling, surfing and surf etiquette. All participants are guaranteed to stand up by the end of the lesson! Body Boarding Combining all the aspects of surfing except on a Body Board! Suitable for groups of up to 25 people and lasting approximately 2 hours Indoor Surf Carnival CYC Staff will keep your campers entertained with a high energy indoor activity for 2 hours! Perfect for a night activity and suitable for groups of any size. National Park Walk A guided walk through the National Park will reveal hidden treasures you’ve never noticed. Facilitated by a qualified instructor, suitable for groups of 25 and lasting 2 hours, this is not your average bush walk!

Activities Tubing Prepare to get wet and have fun riding the donut behind the CYC boat. Suitable for groups of up to 25 participants this activity takes approximately 2 hours. Please note; age restrictions apply for this activity. Fishing This activity is ideally suited to groups of 25 people and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Topics covered include safety and equipment, tide and water conditions and basic fishing skills. Participants will require hat, shirt (preferably long sleeve) and sunscreen. This activity will be facilitated by an instructor and is offered subject to availability and weather conditions. Surf Safety Presentation CYC Burleigh can arrange for your group to learn surf safety from an expert Gold Coast City Council Life Guard. The session covers surf conditions and safety and is a must for any students visiting the Gold Coast. Mini Surf Carnival Compete in your very own surf carnival! Incorporating most aspects of Surf Life Saving (swim, run board paddle), campers will compete against one another in a fun and inclusive environment. Participants will need swim wear and sunscreen. Table Tennis A great indoor activity for groups up to 25 people. Raft Building A great activity for practical problem solving and teamwork with a tangible conclusion. The group is given a set of equipment from which they must construct a raft that will transport the group across the water. With a little guidance, enthusiasm, and some trial and error, vessels begin to take shape. A quick test run, and possibly some minor adjustments, puts the group on the water to their destination. Suitable for groups of 25 and lasts for 2 hours.

Activities Stand Up Paddle Boarding A great new activity in 2011! Campers will develop balance, coordination and core strength together with having heaps of fun. The activity is suitable for groups of 25 and lasts 2 hours. Team Building Activities Boost motivation within your group through our team building activities. We offer a vast array of team building games and activities, all designed to enhance communication and teamwork with your group. Trivia Night Designed with the age group in mind. A great way to develop teamwork and cooperation among campers. The night can be organised by CYC staff or yours. Dance Night/Karaoke Night Designed with the age group in mind. A great way to unwind and have fun with the kids. The night can be organised by CYC staff or yours. Fully supervised. Movie Night Designed with the age group in mind. The night can be organised by CYC staff or yours. External Activities CYC regularly uses a number of external activity providers in order to increase the variety of activities on offer. In many cases special group rates have been negotiated so that campers may participate in these activities at a discounted price. These activities may include: • Ten pin bowling, • Mini golf, • Skateboarding, • Indoor rock climbing, • Ice-skating • Stand Up Paddle Boarding • Mountain Biking • Entry into various theme parks. • Kayaking The availability of activities varies depending on staffing, weather conditions, supply, etc. Activities available with prior arrangement.
