BAx
The Blockchain Association of Exchange Platforms and Custodians
Blockchain, DLT, Decentralized Finance and digital assets are profoundly transforming the financial and digital services of our daily lives.
The BAx has the mission to:
1. FEDERATE
- represents the voice of the blockchain and digital asset industry in Belgium
2. PROMOTE
- Advance the Belgian ecosystem as a global centre for blockchain technologies. - to encourage the development of a secure and competitive national and European legal framework in Belgium
3. REPRESENT
- to create communication channels within the finance and insurance industry and government to share knowledge, - identify opportunities and thus ensure a safer digital future
4. DEVELOP - ACCELERATE
- in close collaboration with Fintech Belgium, provide infrastructure and training to entrepreneurs, SMEs and businesses in the digital asset economy and thus promote local employment.
5. EDUCATE
- to help companies to increase their competitiveness through blockchain. - to make the general public understand the implications of these technologies. Its objective is to advance the interests of the public and to promote blockchain for the economic development of Belgium.
The aim of the association is therefore to promote the attractiveness of Belgium as a leading country for blockchain-based activities. Investors are looking for security, especially legal security when investing in entirely new technologies.
Companies active in blockchain in Belgium still face competitive complexities that are not yet in line with national and European regulations. The real challenge for the BAx and our country is to find a solution that is adapted, on the one hand, to the tasks of national legislators who
must protect consumers and guarantee their security and the integrity of the markets as much as possible, and on the other hand, to allow the development of a competitive service offer in an environment that knows no borders.
By establishing a dialogue between the different levels of power, regulators and financial institutions, the BAx will therefore devote itself to improving the public policy environment so that blockchain-related projects, particularly those subject to prudential obligations, can flourish in Belgium while respecting privacy and data protection.
