Meditation through Writing - Course summary
Fiona Doubleday Scottish island mum
Meditation through Writing – a signature e-course This course has had the best of journeys. It began life in 2013 as I dipped my toe in the world of e-courses. I ran it with a small group of very committed students and we created a sense of shared learning that has lasting pedigree. It ran again in 2014 with a larger cohort but with the same level of commitment. I had made some changes from the delivery the year before and they worked as expected so I was pleased. Very quickly this special course has become the signature offering from Scottish island mum and I can’t imagine that changing. As a course it runs for six months and begins on one equinox and ends with the next. In 2015 the course is developing still further as it is offered in both the northern and the southern hemisphere. Welcoming students from the southern hemisphere feels like a really important step forward for the course as it continues to mature. What is the appeal? I can only answer this because I take student feedback so seriously. The first thing to say is that this course has breadth of appeal and I think that is very fitting for a course that lasts six months. I have had students encountering meditation for the first time and students who have spent considerable time learning this skill. Similarly, I have had experienced and novice writers but what binds them altogether is the commitment to the ‘space’ between meditation and writing. The symbiotic relationship between these two occupations is what interests all the students and it is where we generate the most stimulating thinking. Over time practice in meditation is developed and this secures a journey that pursues a more authentic writing voice. If I am totally honest I never quite know where this journey is to end and I am sure that is appropriate. I am blessed to still be in touch with all my students and can see, quite clearly, the authentic writing voice being explored and expressed across different media and publishing options. All my e-courses can be studied at the student’s own pace and I think that is important. So this year I already have some students signed up for the course but bookings are now open via my Eventbrite page. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/meditation-throughwriting-tickets-15077888370 If you have already paid a deposit then you can pay the balance direct to me via paypal – natureslarder@gmail.com I am always available to answer any questions you might have. Meditation through Writing – a six month course that can be studied in your own time. The course will embed mindful meditation as regular practice in your life as well as extending and deepening your writer’s voice. Creative and personal writings will be included in an ongoing journal and Scottish island mum offers the chance of publication on the Scottish island mum website. This opportunity will allow feedback as your writing voice emerges. Once a month you will receive the resources you need for that month via your inbox. There is e-mail support throughout the duration of your studies. The course reflects the changing seasons and is relevant for anyone interested in meditation and writing as ways of focusing the mind and generating new thinking. No previous experience of either meditation or professional writing is required.
