Architecture constitutes the reality of experience while this reality gets in the way of the overall vision. Architecture constitutes the abstraction of absolute truth, while this very truth gets in the way of feeling.

V E R T I C A L S TA D I U M PARADIGM OF AN URBAN REGENERATION WITHIN KUWAIT CITY

The increase in the view of sports and gaming as not only a recreational activity but a professional career led to a significant growth in the government input on sports and on the construction of stadiums. However, the typology and the design of stadiums have remained traditional with minimal change. This research pertains to the architecture of stadiums. Traditionally, stadium architecture solely focus on the iconic image that is portrayed by the buildings. Stadiums have the capacity to change the shape of a city, develop a new typology, and architectural form to play a new role in a diverse society.

Designing single purpose stadiums is a great waste of resources which is why lately architects are designing stadiums for multiple purposes. This project introduces a new architectural typology of combining the stadium and a high-rise with kinetic systems to enhance integration of the stadium with the society and facilitate their functions. Therefore, one can conclude that the aim of having the unique designs on the multipurpose stadiums is for having a legacy. LOGAN HEIGHTS ART MUSEUM A HIDDEN HUB OF ART

Inspired by the industrial area of Barrio Logan, the art museum is going to be a cutting edge art hub for the neighborhood. The appearance of the art museum of Corten Steel is a resemblance to the classic cars show occurring each week. The museum features exhibits spaces for artwork, restaurants, workshops for the community, and auditorium/ lecture area. Logan Heights Art Museum has a huge plaza infront of the building to create a vibrant corner to connect and welcome the surrounding community. While the museum also consists of an amusing atrium with staircases to create a better circulation system around the spaces.

THE KORNER

AFFORDABLE HOUSING UNITS IN SAN DIEGO

The Korner is a dwelling community designed for flexibility that targets residents who are looking for a temporary place to stay until they need to move to their next location such as retirees, military families, travelers and students. The community houses “container” dwellings, offices, live-work spaces, commercial spaces and communal spaces for the residents’ entertainment. The philosophy of this concept is to provide an ephemeral 21st century home for those who are always on the go due to work or education or those who like to live in certain places for a short period of time. Affordable housing techniques includes modules, building orientation, multiuse buildings and materiality. Modular buildings can be prefabricated houses or other methods of batch manufactured homes. Containers are projected to be the upcoming building material trend of future housing that was inspired by the industrial characteristic of Kearney Mesa. Since Kearney Mesa is known as an industrial area and home to many Asian ethnicities, introducing affordable housing can encourage developers to start expanding housing communities within the area. The proposed Container concept as affordable housing can be densified vertically and horizontally to mature with the area’s population without affecting the neighborhood.

Barrio Logan, they say, a prevailing essence and existing evidence of Paradigm, evolution and change that has, for time in memorial, influenced continuation of cultural heritage, economic prospects and preservation of social fabric. Amid its richest tales, majestically will this magnificent artistic piece of architecture stand. This establishment will preserve, enhance and express the unique and special qualities of the area. Like poetic dreams, the design will lure happiness and memories real lived experiences, as opposed to manipulations of reality through illusions of science and technology. Making a point of reflection in the real timeline, and allowing locals to capture the time lapsed, and in a more vivid conceptualization, allowing their war stories to live for the tell. The CC will proclaim its spatial essence in one of the beautiful coast line of Barrio Logan.

The design is an inherent manifestation of the craftsman’s intend to glorify what architecture has to offer. For the local, this piece would influence connectedness and beyond. Making their life self-sufficient, independent and adoration for their home originality. Community ties shall take new hold, preserving culture, traditions and their history, making memories - present-self a vivid glory of the future-self, and like a site-map, this monument will orient every inhabitant, influencing each to place self in the moment and live in that context.

C I V I TA 2 1 HOUSING UNITS IN LITTLE ITALY | SAN DIEGO

The area of Little Italy in San Diego has its own distinct but beautiful style, which has elements of the town’s predominantly Italian – American community, its past as a Spanish colonial town, and its place in modern San Diego. As such, its architecture captures the spirit of the town. Little Italy’s aesthetics are a clear attempt to make it more compatible with nature, and with its surroundings, as was initially envisioned by the architect. One very interesting feature of the building design, in relation to the spatial considerations applied in the Nexus World Housing projects architecture is the use of artistic curvatures. For instance, the curved roofline used in the Little Italy site building provides an extrovert appearance to outside viewers. To the dwellers, the curved outlines facilitates the dwellers with a wider field of view to the city – an artistic ingenuity that addresses the issue of small space available. However, the building at Little Italy could greatly benefit by borrowing some of the architectural element seen at Nexus World Housing in Fukuoka, Japan.

ROMBERG TIBURON CENTER ZERO NET ENERGY BAYSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER Not wanting to take away from the beauty of the nature that surrounds the site, the concept was based on trying to leave as small of a footprint as possible on the site while still giving the client enough room to use the new space as easily and efficiently as possible for all their needs. We integrated the building in to the existing topography curves which allows for more space on both the interior and the exterior. Tying the design in to the rich history of the area was how the form of the building was developed. The geometric wall on the lower site makes a monumental statement and gave rise to the angular shape of both the kayak building as well as the main facility. Tying the design in to the rich history of the area was how the form of the building was developed. The geometric wall on the lower site makes a monumental statement and gave rise to the angular shape of both the kayak building as well as the main facility. The site as a whole is connected through a system of walkways and trails that allow for visitors and employees alike to be able to travel from the highest point to the water in as straightforward a path as possible. The existing Brick building becomes a viable building again by incorporating a cafe/ rentable area that also ties in to the new garden and rest space behind it.
