Jim Pauley has served in a number of leadership positions including chairman of the board for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and chair of the High Performance Building Council for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).
Neil Savery is currently involved in transforming the business model and outlook for the Code’s development and the role of the ABCB.
PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER – NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA)
He has received numerous awards and recognitions including his recent induction into the Engineering Hall of Distinction at the University of Kentucky. Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and has been a licensed engineer in the state of Kentucky. Topic: International leadership in fire protection standards development and research.
ANDREW BATTYE
GENERAL MANAGER – AUSTRALIAN BUILDING CODES BOARD (ABCB)
Prior to this, Neil was Deputy Commissioner of the Victorian Building and Plumbing Industry Commissions, where he was responsible for managing the process of change arising out of the 2011 the Victorian Auditor General’s report. For 8 years Neil served as the inaugural Chief Planning Executive for the ACT Planning & Land Authority, prior to this role include Executive Director of Planning SA, and Director of City Planning and Special Projects at the City of Greater Geelong. Neil holds qualifications in town planning, urban design and ecologically sustainable development, is an Adjunct Professor in Urban Design with the University of Canberra, and is a Certified Practising Planner and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Andrew Battye has worked for SafeWork NSW (formerly WorkCover NSW) for the last 11 years.
STEPHEN KIP
Andrew joined the regulator in 2006, previously he worked in the downstream petrochemical industry for 23 years in the UK, Asia and Australia.
Stephen Kip has been a Director of SKIP Consulting, an engineering and regulatory consultancy firm for the past 10 years.
Prior to joining the Regulator Andrew was self-employed as a Dangerous Goods Consultant, he has a BSc. in Engineering and is currently a full member of the Australasian Institute of Dangerous Goods Consultants. (AIDGC). Andrew joined the Regulator as an Inspector and has held several key positions within the organisation in both operations and investigations, before spending the last 3 years in the Dangerous Goods & Explosives Unit where he was responsible for granting the first licences to Major Hazard Facilities in NSW. Topic: Is a trusting relationship with regulators good for business when managing the risk of hazardous chemicals in the workplace?
DIRECTOR – SKIP CONSULTING
Prior to that he has held senior engineering positions with Warrington Fire Research (now Exova Warrington Fire) and the Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ) and was the deputy to the Building Commissioner at the Building Control Commission in Victoria, Australia. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne School of Architecture and Building, an Adjunct Associate Professor of the School of Engineering and Science at Victoria University, a member of the Emergency Management Commission of Victoria’s Bushfire Construction Advisory Panel, and a former member of the Victorian Building Appeals Board. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend the ‘Meet the Authors’ events in the poster presentation area throughout the conference.
