I’d like to personally thank you for your support and helping me get to the USASA Snowboard Nationals in 2012 in Colorado. I couldn’t believe how awesome all the donations were that came in and I hope I made you proud and it was worth it! Being that it was not only my first year competing, but my first time snowboarding outside of Mt. Bachelor, it was amazing! It was so much fun traveling, driving and meeting up with the many others from our area in the Central OR “Enter the Dragon” USASA Series, MBSEF (Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation), as well as kids (and parents) from almost 30 other states. So if you didn’t hear, I had a blast competing and finished in the middle of about 60 of best kids in the nation for my age division. I also learned a lot and had to battle through a pretty bad fall on the 40-50 foot gap on the Slope Style course...both physically with a few bruised ribs as well as mentally trying to overcome it and figure out whether or not I was able to do my last run or not (I ended up doing it!). The competition was intense and a whole other level from what I was used to, and my parents weren’t sure if it was going to be too much for me, but I put a lot of pressure on myself too because I wanted to do good. After I was done with both my Slope Style and Half-pipe events, I told my dad: “I know I could’ve done better, but now I know what I need to do next year to get on the podium!” When my parents asked me what my favorite thing was about Nationals, it was... everything! It was such a good, fun event and I hope the first of many more. Thanks again and the new winter season is already upon us and I have a 1st place already!
