Welcome to the 26th Annual Checkers Simmental Sale. It is with great pleasure that we are once again working with this awesome group of consignors on this very prestigious Simmental event. On offer this year is a group of Simmental cattle, although smaller in numbers, lacks absolutely nothing in overall quality. The group of cattle that is for sale is extremely deep so please analyze your catalogue with great detail. The bred heifers on offer are the right kind. Powerful in their type, but yet still feminine enough to give them that look and eye appeal we are all searching for. They will lay down this new year and have a calf to maximize your return on investment. The Checkers sale is notorious for having bred heifers sold here pay for themselves on the first calf. The heifer calves on offer are possibly as good of set as you will find anywhere in the breed. They have the ability to not only become show females and be successfully campaigned, but also be taken home and bred to the bull of your choice as they develop into the next up and coming matrons of the Simmental breed. Please bid and buy with confidence, as the offering will truly speak for itself sale day. Please plan on joining us December 19 in Ponoka for the 26th Annual Checkers Simmental Sale. We understand that with the uncertainties of Covid this may not be the easiest thing. If you are uncomfortable in crowds the cattle will be available for viewing in the days prior to the sale so please take advantage of this. If for any reason you are unable to make it to Ponoka at all, the entire team here at First Class Cattle Marketing will be very familiar with the offering and it will be our pleasure to represent you in a professional and confidential manner. Mark Shologan with DLMS will also be onsite if internet bidding is what you prefer. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and I wish you all the best as we move into the New Year. Regards,
Darnell Fornwald

A total outcross genetically coming from the Mark Land and Cattle program. The cross of the high selling bull out of the Virginia Ranch program, Pay Dirt, in 2018 and the beautifully put together Dandy 180D female bought out of the Oakview Simmentals program with the Wotten’s of Elm Tree Farms, ON, resulted in a band of impressive brothers last spring, which was our high selling yearling to Skywest Simmentals. 457G is the natural born calf out of the donor 180D, super impressive to give a big flush then bred right back and produced this female to go out and represent the program. 457G is easy fleshing, big boned and powerfully put together. We are really excited to get the first group of Pay Dirt’s calved out this spring, they are slowly starting to spring neat little udders. Her mating to the Inscription bull will click well, we have been calving Inscription solely on heifers and he calves like a dream. Take her home, get that first baby out with ease and have fun planning all her next matings to produce the next generations of great ones. Co-owned with Elm Tree Farms Bred to LFE Inscription 570E on April 1, 2020. Exposed to FGAF Polemic 046G from April 4 to May 15, 2020

26th Annual Checkers Sale
Here you have the opportunity to purchase an outstanding female. This one really puts it all together. She is the right kind, right in her structure and feet, right in her pedigree. This is what we try and do; combine as many truly great cows that have proven they can get it done into one package. If you can find one with this many great cows in their pedigree. Buy it. LFE First Base 61R, LFE Amber, IPU Pocahontas 68M, LCL Miss Normac 16M, LFE Keepsake, Wheatland Lady 902J and KOP Bengie 6P. Gabby combines them all. Bred early to our calving ease bull and son of Wheatland Lady 913W will add another great one to the mix. Bred to Wheatland Justice 894F on March 24, 2020. Not only do we believe in the future of this female, but also the future of young cattlemen/women. If either of our consignments are purchased by a young breeder, they can choose to pay ½ of the purchase price on sale day and the remainder over the next two years.

Early Sunset Lady 34D Maternal Sister to 5G
Early-Sunset Lady 5G
26th Annual Checkers Sale
Here is a diamond of a bred heifer. If in your quest for broodiness, stoutness and eye appeal are paramount, here’s where the rubber meets the road. Lady 5G is a maternal sister to Lady 34D, who sold in 2016 to Will and Wyatt Bradford. Lady 34D gleaned many banners and awards at several shows, claiming Supreme Female at Summer Synergy. The Lady cow family at Early Sunset is most Cherished, these females are extremely difficult to part with. Now you can seize the opportunity to own a Real Lady. If her dams production means anything, this heifer can and will be a future donor. Bred to MRC Highmore 283G on April 28, 2020. Exposed to MRC Highmore 283G. Due to calve on February 4, 2021.

Red Mitzi is backed by our great Mitzi Cow Family. We bred our original Mitzi cow as a “Red” cow for the longest time and this powerful, moderate framed TANK is the result. When Darnell came and selected he said what I was thinking, that this is a bull producer. 927G’s sire, our Casanova bull, just cracks them out each year. Both bulls and females. The sons are extremely marketable and the daughters are making a mark in the herd. Don’t let this future herd matron slip away. Take an honest look and study what she has to offer. Safe to an early January calf to our CEN Red Fuel 482F heifer bull. Be sure to check out his daughters in this sale, and you will see he’s a force to be reckoned with in the breed. Exposed to CEN Red Fuel 482F from March 19 to April 23, 2020. Exposed to LFE Razor 329F from April 23 to June 1, 2020.

The Commander daughters seem to be at the forefront of the selection pen. That soft, stylish look just seems to draw one in. Rosslynn is no different. Built on a strong cow family base, and backed by tried and proven walking herdbulls. The big thing is they go out and work. Rosslynn is setting down a sweet udder, big soft rib and stylish frontend. Vet peg checked safe for a mid Jan calf. Fuel did get hurt and was pulled April 23. The heifers were then exposed to our other calving ease bull LFE Razor 392F. Exposed to CEN Red Fuel 482F from March 19 to April 23, 2020. Exposed to LFE Razor 392F from April 23 to June 1, 2020.

As soon as we saw this Profit Maker female hit the ground at birth, we knew that she was something to get excited about! Don’t look past this female as she uniquely combines elite show heifer and brood cow qualities into an elegant package. We find it impressive that one is so refined about her head and neck, that opens up with so much dimension out the back side of her shoulder into her center body, that comes back level out of her hip, that plants down with cushion and flexibility when you ask her to go. She has already proven herself in the showring at she was recently named Senior Heifer Calf Champion at the Lloydminster Stockade Roundup 2020!

Last year when Darnell toured he insisted we send a Lotto daughter to Checkers, after lengthy conversations Darnell was able to twist Mikes arm and Syrup 58F was the choice of all our Lotto daughters to go. She went on to be lead off and high selling black female to First Class Cattle co. She has been back here at the farm being managed by us. After talking with Darnell we felt it was only right to offer her first daughter back at this very sale. Syrup 58H is a moderate made female that is extremely clean in her lines and carries an awesome hair coat. These Proclamation cattle are very consistent here, very soft made, bold ribbed and smooth through the front 1/3. It’s safe to say Syurp 58H follows suit. Her dam has matured exactly how we thought she would and is setting up to be a big time donor cow for First Class. Maybe the most exciting part of Syrup 58F is her udder, she is as ideal uddered of a cow as you can find. Although it’s no surprise with her being a Lotto daughter, he’s without a doubt the best udder making sire used at Willow Creek. Buy with confidence in Syrup 58H as she carries some serious cow power, C4 Sugar combined with the Syrup cow family makes for a seriously sweet package.

There is no truer statement than you have to bring your best to Checkers. Harmony does just that. She has all the pieces to enable her to fit into any part of your program. She has a beautiful look; correct in her structure and all the performance you would want. Her pedigree is stacked with cattle that produce. A direct daughter by our strongest black cow family and Riddler who has worked well for us, we are excited to see what she can do for you. When Shay came and selected, he took one look at her and his words were -what about that one! This was a hard decision to make bringing the top females of our calf crop to town! Darnell sure knows how to pick’em! However we are beyond excited to be part of Checkers for the first time and want to showcase our genetics. 3H showcases everything we think a good female should; she is structurally sound, soft made, with tons of depth. She is a female that will stand top of any ones herd.

Erixon Warpaint 42D has done it again! I’ve been super impressed with the females he throws. Females that are powerful but yet have a performance look to them. Overall he makes females that will grow into great performing cows for your herd! 12H is a powerful female with lots of spring of rib. She is a female that is big topped, sound and carries herself with that front pasture look. Don’t miss this one on sale day!

Broker & Driver have been our mating since we began in the Simmental business & this female favorite is proof of why. From the ground up this female puts it all together in one great package. Don’t let her being a ¾ blood turn you away because this female is going to flat work. From here on out she’s going to get nothing but better, don’t pass this great female up.

Another Prophecy daughter, this bull has been very consistent in the females that he has produced. A very moderate sized female with lots of volume & very smooth front end. Will go on to make a great cow.

It is with great excitement, that I am offering CHOICE on my two show heifers. Senorita is from my three year old show cow Tamale. She has been Champion Female in 4-H for three years running; many Reserve Division titles and most importantly been admired by many. Her udder is perfect and is an extremely sound, moderate framed cow. Sènorita is a mellow, deep ribbed heifer. When you get her on the move you will admire her flow. Her look at me presence will catch your eye. “Naughty” as I call her is a long spined, power of a heifer. Her dam Reba did a great job on her first calf. Beautiful udder, tons of hip and top , with a load of power describes Reba. Just like Senorita , Naughty is sired by our heifer bull Fuel. He is proving to be early gestation and was used with great success in the heifer pen. Both heifers are beautiful haired, deep ribbed and stylish. I am going to retain one as my show heifer for the 2021 show season. This pair of heifers represent what I am trying to raise and as much as it’s hard to let 1 go, I can do so with pride and confidence that they will be herd matrons.

This Blitz daughter is sure to catch your eye on sale day with her overall presence and style. This female is big hipped, strong quartered and is backed by a phenomenal cow that we purchased from Sevic Simmentals. We feel that Blitz is going to become a front runner cow for her new owners. This heifer has enough power and style to either make bull calves or just be a productive female. She is big boned, good footed and stems from a very maternal background on the top and bottom of her pedigree. Be sure to have a look at her come sale day.

This is another heifer calf that is coming out of our “Class” line of females. This is our first calf crop off of our new herdsire Edwin, and they have been nothing short of good. This heifer calf is long bodied, good footed, big boned and out of a proven cow family. The Edwin calves all have the same look and type similar to the two females we are offering; long, big middled, good fronted and they have a heck of a hair coat. We think that they are going to be females to watch for in the future, so getting your hands on one now would be a great idea!

This heifer is coming straight out of one of the female lines that we have built around. The “Class” line stems from a cow that we bought from SIBL Simmentals, and we have been sticky about keeping all the females that we could from her. This Double Vision daughter is going to make a great cow for her new owners. She is big footed, big hipped, and she is long as a rope. We feel that she is going to be a female that will go out and build her new owners bulls and be a productive cow.

A real Interesting deal here, one we are excited to offer a purebred daughter of Bearcat and bred up from the very famous Tibbie Angus cow family. This girls dam is a beautifully uddered Provider daughter and her sire is our outstanding walking herd bull bearcat the very stout son of Beast Mode. This heifer combines a lot of the great traits from the Angus females with the bone and performance of the Simmentals. A real exciting female that will surely make a great producing cow.

From the day she was born she had big shoes to fill following her brother’s reputation last year. 632H is a full sister to Breaking All The Rules, the bull calf we took to Louisville with us last fall. He came home with the Reserve Champion Bull banner and sold this spring to Westman Farms and Battrum Cattle. 632H is constructed seamlessly as she carries her head high out of her point of shoulder, she is bold sprung in her middle third and has loads of dimension in her rear third. Correct in her structure and solid in her makeup have made her a joy to watch getting to this stage and we know she really is just getting started.

When we arrived in Ponoka and saw Syrup again she had surpassed all expectations and we knew we had to find a way to add this female to the donor program. She has since calved out with a flawless udder and did an unbelievable job raising her Proclamation heifer calf. See for yourself as this calf just so happens to be lot 10 in this very sale. Honestly if it wasn’t for the Covid 19 outbreak Syrup and her calf would of very likely gone on the show road and we feel she would of been quite competitive. Syrup has officially entered the donor program and is now at DRI awaiting to be flushed. We feel there is no better place to offer a flush on this great female than the sale where it all began. Don’t miss this opportunity as this may be the only chance you will get to flush this amazing female to a bull of your choice. Flush to take place at Davis-Rairden to the bull of your choice. Guarantee six (6) freezable embryos. Buyer to pay all flush costs.
