ARREST FOR WAVING BLACK FLAGS IS NOT ILLEGAL: KERALA HC
Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea seeking a declaration that arrest and detention for waving black flags in protest is ‘illegal’ and ‘unconstitutional.’ The petition, which also sought compensation for those booked for waving black flags at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in protest last year, was rejected by a bench of Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Murali Purushothaman.
HC SEEKS GoI’S STAND ON PLEA AGAINST MANDATORY REPORTING OF POCSO CASES
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought Centre’s stand on a plea against the POCSO Act provisions pertaining to mandatory reporting of sexual offences against minors to police. A bench issued notice on the petition by lawyer Harsh Vibhore Singhal who sought “judicial invalidation” of sections 19, 21 & 22 of the POCSO Act. The court asked the central government to file its reply to the petition within six weeks.

Shillong: After permission for PM Narendra Modi’s rally at the PA Sangma Sports Complex in Tura was denied, BJP’s state unit lashed at the Conrad Sangma govt. “The Director of Sports & Youth Affairs, under instructions from a scared and insecure CM Conrad Sangma, denied us permission to hold a campaign rally at the PA Sangma stadium,” BJP spokesperson Bernad N Marak, said on Tuesday.

Free bus rides for K’taka women and schoolkids
Bengaluru: Working women and schoolchildren will get free rides in public buses from April 1, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here on Tuesday.
Speaking after dedicating KSRTC’s Volvo Multi Axel BS4-9600 sleeper buses ahead of the polls here, the chief minister said the purpose of chalking out this scheme was to en- able women become self-reliant. Didi launches portal for non resident Bengalis
Kolkata: On the International Mother Language Day, the West Bengal government on Tuesday launched a special portal through which non-resident Bengalis residing in other Indian states and even in other countries will be able to communicate with the state government in times of emergency. Launching the portal Apan Bangla (Own Bengal) at a colourful function on Tuesday, CM Mamata Banerjee said the portal is meant ‘to communicate’ and ‘to connect’ with Bengalis residing out of West Bengal.
“Siddaramaiah has excelled in disturbing law and order and appeasement. It is evident from the fact that Siddaramaiah’s government withdrew over 170 cases of PFI cadres who were accused of disturbing peace and law and order and released hundreds of accused from jail,” he said.
Lauding the work done by BJP in the state he said that the govern- ment has done the work of doing good to the Dalits, increasing their reservation on the land of Karnataka.

Country’s voice can’t be suppressed: Cong
