Jaipur: On World Wildlife Day, a new conservation reserve was announced by state government on Friday. The forest department issued a notification in this regard and announced that the new conservation reserve will come up at Ramgarh Kunji Sunwas in Baran district. Officials informed that this will be the 22nd conservation reserve in Rajasthan. The reserve will be spread over 3808.84 forest area. On February 27, the forest department had notified Jhalana and Amagarh as 21st conservation reserves.
Although Rajasthan has three national parks, four tiger reserves, two Ramsar sites, National
Chambal Gharial Sanctuary, the introduction of Asiatic Lion and the African Cheetah could change the fate of the state.

Nagaur: The oldest panther at Nahargarh Biological Park passed away on Friday. The 19-year-old panther, Bakshi, was suffering from agerelated ailments and was undergoing treatment under the supervision of senior veterinary doctor Dr Arvind Mathur. Officials informed the ailing panther breathed last on Friday evening while DFO Kapil Chandrawal and DCF Raghuveer Meena also condoled the death of the panther. Several big cats have died in Nahargarh Biological Park. On July 10, the lone white tiger Chinu died during treatment, while the panther that created panic in a village near Achrol also died during treatment. In last 33 months, 11 big cats have died in Nahargarh Biological Park.
Barmer: Finally the state govt had cleared the way for the state's first bajra (millet) research centre. In a recent meeting of the state cabinet, the Rajasthan govt had given green nod to the allotment of 40 hectares of land for the project at Gudamalani block inBarmer district. However, the project was to be set up two years ago but it was stuck between the state and Centre govt. The union govt had sanctioned the project two years ago but it remained in papers as the state govt did not allot the land for the project. On Tuesday during the cabinet meeting, the state govt allotted 40 hectares of land to project.

TWO-DAY 'RAJASTHAN MILLETS CONCLAVE' TO START FROM MARCH 13 IN JAIPUR
Jaipur: The two-day 'Rajasthan Millets Conclave' will start from March 13 in the state capital Jaipur. Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Horticulture, Dinesh Kumar said in a statement that the year 2023 has been declared by the United Nations General Assembly to be celebrated as the International Millets Year, under which the Rajasthan Millets Conclave will be organised by the Agriculture Marketing Department on March 13 and 14, 2023 at the State Institute of Agricultural Management, Durgapura, Jaipur. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will be the chief guest of the event, he said. The secretary said that more than 100 stalls of 'Millets Start Up' and Agro processing will be set up at the conclave. Kashiram Choudhary area is around 9.8 million hectare and the production is 9.4 million tonne, against which Raj produces 3.75 (42%) million tonne bajra. India’s only bajra research cen- tre is located in Hyderabad, Telangana. But states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, UP and MP are hardly getting any benefit from the centre.
