Interview Exclusive

In conversation with Aditi Nagar, Politicial Editor of First India & Bharat24 - Vision of New India, CM Ashok Gehlot thwarts the Oppn’s claim of his recently tabled budget being a ‘Kagzi budget’

 Budgets are of various types. At times it is said the budget is political, at times it is said its based on election, at times it is said to be budget for poor or farmer or in fact at times it is said to be communal budget also. Which category does your budget fall in because Opposition is terming it a ‘Kagzi-budget’.

See, the Opposition had been asking last time also as to where will the money come from? So jokingly I said that it will come by magic. I am reit- erating again, statistics speak for themselves regarding that budget and how it got implemented, is the most surprising aspect. All the MLAs would tell you that not merely announcements were made, but work has also been done. Even af- ter the budget was completely implemented, they asked where will the money come from and are doing the same now too. Simultaneously, we have started sanctioning of the projects and announcements. As soon as the budget gets passed, the project or scheme will come to ground.

 Chiranjeevi scheme has been a masterstroke. But is it different from Nirogi Rajasthan or are they the same schemes? The people who get ad- mitted to hospitals, who are serious and have to undergo operation. For that we had set a limit of `10 lakh for treatment, has now been increased to `25 lakh. Whether it is kidney, heart or bone marrow transplant, they used to be under different heads. But we said no, people should have confidence. Now, there is discussion in the homes of poor people that if they have to undergo operation, the State government will bear the expenses. This has given confidence to people. in country carried out a successful operation in a day against an organisation like PFI. P5
