Kharge joined a party protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in parliament today. The protest began soon after both Houses were adjourned for the day in a standoff over Rahul Gandhi’s “democracyunder-attack” remarks in London.

Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge sat on chairs as the MPs protested holding placards and chanting slogans pressing for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) inquiry into the AdaniHindenburg row.

Parliament has been repeatedly stalled with the ruling BJP demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his remarks in London, and the opposition aggressively pushing for a Joint Parliamentary Committee inquiry into the allegations of US short-seller Hindenburg against the Adani Group and the fallout of the subsequent fall in Adani stocks.

BJP sources have said they won’t let Rahul Gandhi speak in the House unless he apologises. The audio of the proceedings in parliament were muted this morning.

After about 20 min- utes of chaos, Speaker Om Birla adjourned Lok Sabha for the day. Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and several other Union ministers were present in the House.

The Congress, re peating Rahul Gandhi’s charge that the mics of opposition leaders were muted, took a swipe at PM Narendra Modi.

“Earlier, the mic used to be turned off, today even the proceedings of the House were muted. The house is mute for PM Modi’s friend,” the Congress tweeted.

RaGa is a part of ‘Anti-Nationalist Toolkit’: Nadda

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments in the UK did not come due to his concern over India but for his political legacy, Union minister Smriti Irani said on Friday, stressing that the opposition party should take a hint from the recent poll results in the northeast and “smell the political coffee”. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power on its own in Tripura and with its senior ally, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), in Nagaland. “Let us keep the 2014 and 2019 (Lok Sabha) elections aside. The Congress should take a hint from the recent poll results in the northeastern states of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya, where the BJP did fairly well, and smell the political coffee,” the Union minister for women and child development and minority affairs said at the India Today Conclave here.

New Delhi (PTI): BJP president JP Nadda alleged on Friday that Rahul Gandhi has become a “permanent part of the toolkit” working against India and said the Congress leader will have to apologise for seeking “interference” from foreign powers in India’s internal affairs.

Nadda said anti-India forces have always had problems with a strong India, its robust democracy and decisive government. By criticising the state of democracy in India and seeking the intervention of the United States and Europe on foreign soil, Gandhi has attacked the country’s sovereignty, he added.

“Rejected repeatedly by people, Rahul Gandhi has become a permanent part of the ‘toolkit’ working against India,” Nadda said. He accused the former Congress chief of insulting India, its

The Chandigarh Mahila Congress demands that “she apologise to people because of whom she is the MP”, Cong leader said.

The Congress’s plan to put up a united fight along with other Opposition parties against the BJP in 2024 seems to be dwindling as both Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav have said that they would keep away from the Grand Old Party in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. This came after SP chief Akhilesh Yadav met the West Bengal CM in Kolkata on Friday.

“The Trinamool Congress will go its own way, maintaining distance from both the Congress and BJP,” senior Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay said adding that Mamata Banerjee will meet powerful regional parties to fight the BJP.
