Project Cheetah in line with PM’s vow to environmental protection & wildlife conservation, says Bhupender Yadav

New Delhi: Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav said that Project Cheetah is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to environmental protection and wildlife conservation at the meeting of the Consultative Committee of Parlia- ment on Project Cheetah, chaired by the Union Minister.

The Union Minister expressed his gratitude for steps taken by the Government of India for bringing the Cheetah back to India and restoring its lost glory. Yadav said that this will lead to enhanced livelihood opportunities for the local communities through eco-develop- ment and ecotourism activities.
The Consultative Committee held de- tailed discussions about Project Cheetah and appreciated the efforts of the Government for successful translocation of Cheetahs in India from African countries.
Further, the Members of Parliament flagged issues related to forest and wildlife in their constituencies and the issues which have larger interest for the society and wildlife conservation.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav thanked the members of the committee for their suggestions and assured the Committee that all the issues raised would be addressed in the right earnest.
The Union Minister stated that the Government is determined for conservation and protection of wildlife and environment with active participation of all stakeholders.
Samba (ANI): A person was killed and three were injured in an explosion at a scrap factory in J&K, officials said on Saturday. The explosion took place at Bari Brahmana in the Samba district. Ambulances were at the spot and the injured were rushed to a hospital, officials said. Further details are awaited. Earlier, on March 22, six people were killed and several injured in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu’s Kanchipuram district. After the incident, two fire tenders and 10 ambulances rushed to the factory at Kuruvimalai village. Kanchipuram Collector M Aarthi said, “Six persons lost their lives and several more were injured in an explosion at a firecracker factory at Kuruvimalai village.”
