Spring season’s arrival celebrated at Ajmer Dargah

Ajmer (PTI): ‘Basant’ or the onset of spring was celebrated in the dargah of Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti during the ongoing 811th urs in Ajmer on Saturday.

Qawwals or Sufi singers led by Nasiruddin Chisti, the successor of the dargah’s spiritual head Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, offered mustard flowers at the mausoleum of the Sufi saint.

“India is the epicenter of religious freedom and tolerance. Every festival here is a reflection of Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb. The classic example is the Basant Panchami. Sufism is the root cause of this great tradition,” the spiritual head said in a statement here. It is said the famous poet Amir Khusro himself came to the dargah and offered Basant flowers here and Sufi songs.

Ajmer: Spiritual head of Ajmer Dargah Zainul Abedin Ali Khan on Saturday called upon religious leaders of all faiths to come together to fight against communalism in the country. “Good values create good minds which ultimately lead to a better atmosphere, peace, and happiness,” he said.

Ranjit Joshi elected Lawyers Association Prez for 15th time

Jodhpur: Ranjit Joshi has been elected the President of the Lawyers Association for the 15th time. The reason is that lawyers consider him as their guardian as he has done a lot of work in the interest of lawyers.

Joshi did not contest in the last election.

Nathu Singh was elected as the president. But this time when he entered the poll fray, he won by 51 votes and jubilant lawyers lifted him on their shoulders.

Advocate Joshi has won elections since 2004. There was no seating arrangement for the advocates in the High Court Heritage building. Joshi got proper seating arrangements made by getting a shed constructed and also got fans installed.
