C20 Inception meet to be held in Nagpur

Nagpur: The C20 Inception Conference will be held in Nagpur in Maharashtra between March 20 and 23, with more than 200 foreign delegates from civic groups and NGOs scheduled to participate in the gathering.

Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vice Chairperson of Rambhau Mhalgi Probodhini and patron of CIVIL20 India secre- tariat, made the announcement on Friday, he said the objective of the event would be to present the perspective of civil society, non-government organizations and the development sector in G20 nations.
Thane collector to oversee development works in dist: Shinde

Thane: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed Thane Collector Ashok Shingare to act as the nodal officer for overseeing the development projects in the district.
Mata Amritanandmayi, a spiritual leader, has been appointed as the C20 India Chair and the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini has been entrusted with the responsibility of the secretariat for the event that is scheduled to be held at the Press Club in Mumbai.
The themes include education, health, technology, environment, arts and crafts, democracy, human rights and sustainable development, he said.
At the event, Nobel Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, UN Resident Coordinator in India Shombi Sharp, Indonesian C20 Sherpa Ah Maftuchan, Brazilian representative Alessandro Nilo, Argentinian Guillermina Alaniz, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will all be present as speakers.

On Thursday, Shinde convened a meeting with a few ministers and senior officials from the region. He asked them to finish all the highway projects, road connections, and bridge repairs before the monsoon season.
Officials of departments such as highways, Metro, Mumbai Metropolitan Development Authority (MMRDA), Public Works Department (PWD), Traffic police and civic PWD have been asked to coordinate and complete the ongoing developmental works, the release said. Shinde also asked officials to provide parking lots for heavy vehicles going to and from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).
It was also directed that the number of traffic wardens must be increased, and cranes should be provided to attend to heavy vehicles that break down on highways, the release said.
