New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday extended by two days the CBI custody of former deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who was arrested by the agency on Sunday in connection with the alleged irregularities in the city government’s Excise Policy 2021-22. Special judge MK Nagpal directed the agency to produce AAP leader before court on Monday. The CBI had sought 3 more days of custody of Sisodia after producing him before the court on expiry of his 3-day remand granted earlier. Sisodia’s lawyer said inefficiency of the agency in the probe.

NO PURPOSE WOULD BE SERVED KEEPING ME IN CUSTODY, SAYS SISODIA

Manish Sisodia told the court the agency had mentally harassed him by asking “the same questions” for several hours every day. Sisodia in his bail petition in a trial court stated that no fruitful purpose would be served keeping him in custody as all the recoveries have already been made.
