Mumbai: After Agriculture Minister Abdul Sattar’s insensitive statement towards the farmers, the atmosphere has heated up in the political circles of Maharashtra.
Sattar had said that farmer suicide is not a recent issue and that farmers have been committing suicide for the past several years.
Meanwhile, Shamb- huraj Desai, leader of the Shinde group, has given an explanation of Sattar’s statement while speaking to the media on Monday. schemes to prevent farmer suicides, he said
“The statement made by Abdul Sattar is unintentional. He and I had a discussion this morning, where he told that his department has prepared an action plan to effectively implement the schemes to prevent farmer suicides. There is no doubt that farmers’ suicides should be prevented. Sattar will explain this in the Legislative Assembly as well,” said Desai.
Meanwhile, Chhagan Bhujbal, talking about the onion subsidy, said that the subsidy given by the Shinde government was like wiping the face of the farmers. Desai also responded to this.
“Bhujbal should know how much subsidy the farmers got during his time. In fact, we increased Rs. 100 more than them. We did what they couldn’t do,” commented Desai.
