Seven students in distress saved from losing academic yr
First India Bureau Mumbai: Seven HSC students, who were in distress, get a sigh of relief as the Mumbai division of the state board saved the academic year of these children. While three diabetic students and two with neurological ailments were worried that they won’t be able to give the exam, the forms of two others were withdrawn by the school for low attendance.
Seeing their 16-yearold child anxious a day before the first paper, the parents approached the Mumbai division of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) and sought help.
“The boy, who needed to use an insulin pump during the exam, was worried that he wouldn’t be able to finish in time. The counsellors and officials encouraged him to appear in the exam and allowed an additional 30 minutes,” said Nitin Upasani, Chairman, Mumbai division, MSBSHSE. Two other students were helped similarly. All three of them were allowed to give their papers from a separate room at their respective centres, Upasani told mid-day.
The principals and parents had approached MSBSHSE, requesting help for two students with neurological ailments. The board allowed them, too.
The board helped two other students, whose forms were withdrawn by their schools as they had low attendance.
“During an ‘all-out operation’ conducted last night, the police picked up a 24-year-old man, who is a local resident, and took him to Kolsewadi police station for inquiry. His father Deepak Bhingardive, 63, followed him to the police station to know why his son was brought
While police was interrogating man, his father videographed it on his mobile phone. As he was arguing with police, he was made to sit behind station house officer’s block at the police station, he said.
“However, there he suffered a seizure attack and collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” he added.
Later, Chief Judicial Magistrate ordered Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) to arrange inquest panchnama and post-mortem reports of the deceased, he said. Another son of the deceased accused the police of beating his father to death.
