Close Aide Of Amritpal Singh Held In Punjab
Chandigarh: As the hunt of fugitive pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal is still on, his close aide and gunman, who is an ex-serviceman, was arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in the Ajnala violence case.
The accused, Varinder Singh, belonged to Patti subdivision of Tarn Taran district in Punjab. Following the invocation of the NSA, he has been sent to Assam’s Dibrugarh jail.

Border Security Force Recovers 6 Kg Narcotics Dropped By Drone In Punjab
Chandigarh: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday seized six kg narcotics dropped by a drone in Punjab’s Amritsar sector, an official said. “On March 26, at around 9.36 p.m., BSF troops deployed at the International Border heard the buzzing sound of a suspected flying object (drone) entering from Pakistan into the Indian territory near Toor village in Amritsar district,” the BSF said in a statement on Monday.

Raipur: An assistant platoon commander of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force was killed in a pressure IED blast planted by Naxals in the Bijapur district of the state. The martyred officer was identified as Assistant Platoon Commander Vijay Yadav of the 19th battalion. The incident comes a day after an encounter broke out between the Naxals and a joint party of ITBP and District Reserve Guard in forest area of Chote Burgum.

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday said that they recently carried out search operations at three places in Bhubaneswar and one at Berhampur against Keshari Estates Pvt Ltd and its directors. The searched premises include two residential premises belonging to the directors at Bhubaneswar and one office premises each in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur.

Jammu (PTI): Family of the Dhangri terror attack victims on Monday threatened to migrate from their village to a “safer” place and return ex-gratia amount if govt fails to catch the attackers and bring them to justice.
Terrorists had struck Dhangri village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on January 1 and targeted villagers and fled before planting an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
While five people were killed in the firing by terrorists, two others died in the IED explosion the next morning. And 14 were injured in the twin attacks. The attackers are still at large.
Saroj Bala, who lost two sons in the terrorist attack, said if the govt cannot provide her justice, it should “shoot me dead too”.
“We don’t need jobs. We don’t need money. We need justice by bringing terrorists and their supporters to book. If they don’t address our demand, we will all migrate from here,” she told reporters.

Nine people were arrested in this Uttar Pradesh district on Sunday for allegedly giving shelter to an accused in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal, police said.
The accused were arrested from Purkhas Yusufpur village, located within the Sarai Akil police station limits.
With these arrests, the number of people nabbed so far in connection with the case has gone up to 19, police said.A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including eight country-made pistols, was seized from those arrested, they added.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said the arrests were made during a search operation to nab Abdul Kavi, who is wanted in the Raju Pal murder case.

CHANDRA KANTA MURASINGH PASSES AWAY AT 66
Agartala: Noted poet Chandra Kanta Murasingh (66), who was Sahitya Akademis first Bhasha Samman awardee, passed away in Agartala on Monday following a cardiac arrest. Murasingh, who wrote poems, prose and drama in both Bengali and Tripura’s tribal Koknorok language, is survived by two sons, a daughter and wife. In recognition of his contribution to Kokborok’ literature, Sahitya Akademi had conferred the prestigious Bhasha Samman award on him, which is given to poets and authors.

Kolkata (PTI): A 7-year-old girl was killed after being sexually molested by one of her neighbours in Kolkata’s Tiljala area, prompting local people to blockade roads and railway tracks and vandalise police vehicles on Monday.
The girl, a resident of Kustia’s Shri Dhar Roy Road, was missing since Sunday morning and after an extensive search, policemen found her body in one of the flats in an apartment block in the locality, the police said. The flat owner was arrested and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Amaravati (PTI): Besides welfare and development work in villages, temples are being built on a massive scale, an Andhra Pradesh Minister has said. Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy made these remarks while laying the foundation for Sri Radhakrishna Mandir at Mohammadapuram village of Podalakuru mandalam in Nellore district, which is being built with the funds provided by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Vani Trust.
