Land Acknowledgment The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre acknowledges that we are gathered on the shared traditional lands of the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island. Long before today, there has always been Indigenous Peoples who are the original stewards of this land. We are grateful for the opportunity to live, work and play here. We offer our thanks and honour all the generations of Peoples before us who have survived and thrived here since time immemorial. This land continues to serve as a meeting place and crossroads for Peoples of many Nations. Our recognition of the contributions and importance of Indigenous Peoples is part of our collective commitment to make Truth and Reconciliation real in our community as we strive for a harmonious, shared future.
Why do we acknowledge land? Land acknowledgment is a way to promote an awareness of Indigenous presence and land rights in everyday life and to recognize the history of colonialism and a need for change in settler colonial societies. Map provided by native-land.ca

18/19
season welcome After three seasons of excellent creative and cultural experiences, it is clear that the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is the Niagara destination for world-class arts and culture. Last year more than 75,000 guests visited the centre for live theatre, music, dance, film and cultural events. This season we look forward to enjoying more of our homegrown talent and some of the top national and international performers in downtown St. Catharines.
This season also continues to build on the cultural exchange ignited through the inaugural Celebration of Nations in 2017. Returning 7-9 September, this gathering of Indigenous arts, culture and tradition has inspired cross-cultural learning and understanding. As we continue on our journey of truth and reconciliation, our community is learning and growing through the storytelling and diverse programming at the PAC, which showcases the value of the arts as a tool for learning. As we kick off the 18/19 season I’d like to thank the dedicated patrons, sponsors and attendees for their continued support of the arts and the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. I look forward to seeing you this season at Niagara’s home for the arts. Enjoy the show! Cheers. WALTER SENDZIK Mayor, St. Catharines
Welcome and take your seats for the 2018/19 HOT TICKET Season at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre! Whether you have been here in the past, or if you have yet to experience a show, there is something here for everyone. I am so proud of the calibre of talent and the number of events that have filled this unique venue since opening. We have showcased the very best national and international artists, as well as featured top-notch Niagara talent, community events, festivals and films. The excitement and growth we have seen in a few short years is a testament to the importance of the arts and their role in community engagement. Our fourth season promises to build on this momentum, as we continue to showcase the best diverse, live entertainment. This is a world-class performance venue with amazing acoustics and purposebuilt spaces. We have professional staff in place to ensure you have a great overall experience from the stage to your seats. From curators who research and program acts, to marketing, sales and outreach staff who make sure you hear about them. We have administrative staff and backstage operations staff who handle booking, show co-ordination, technical sound and lighting, maintenance, cleaning and more. Then there’s the front-line staff, made up of show leads, box office agents, bartenders and concessionaires - here to serve in our licensed establishment. Last but not least, we could not run our shows without the support of our dedicated volunteers - the heart of our centre. The team is here to ensure you - our valued patrons - have an enjoyable night out. Your experience is important to us and we encourage you to reach out to staff on-site or through our website. A lot of preparation goes on behind the scenes and I am very proud of the team for their hard work. But without you, the show(s) would simply not go on. We feel it is a privilege to be a part of making arts and culture accessible to everyone in our community. Thank you for your continued patronage and support. Enjoy the fourth season!

GORD’S LEGACY Walking the Path of Reconciliation
Canadian artists celebrate the impact of Gord Downie’s art and work With the passing of Gord Downie on 17 October 2017, Canadians lost one of our most beloved music icons. Gord spent his final days shining light on the reconciliation with Canada’s First Peoples. He asked all Canadians to join the call to action. And now, a group of Canadian artists have joined our collective reconciliation journey with a concert to promote awareness, education and thoughtful action. In collaboration with The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, the FirstOntario PAC welcomes you to join us for a special evening to celebrate the man, the music and his legacy. Featured artists will include Twin Flames, Bruce McCulloch, Tom Wilson, Danny Michel, Trent Severn, Matthew Barber, Damnhait Doyle and more. Funds raised will go directly to the Downie/Wenjack Fund and towards the erection of a Downie/Wenjack Fund Legacy Space at the PAC.
Please join us for a very special evening, in celebration of a very special man, for a very worthy cause.
